Kartik Purnima in Corona Times: No fair, ‘bhog prasadi’, just ‘darshan’ from outside the temple

With coronavirus outspread, majority of fairs and events organised on Kartik Purnima were cancelled. While some communities of people from South India celebrated Kartik Purnima on Sunday, many other Hindu community devotees organised celebrations of Purnima on Monday. Kartik Purnima started from 12:47 pm on Sunday, i.e. November 29 and concluded at 2:59 pm on Monday, i.e. November 30. The annual fair at Janapav Kuti was cancelled this year with concern for people as coronavirus cases continue to spike. More than 30% hotels shutdown in Indore due to covid-19 outbreak & economic hit to 10,000 employees

About 10,000 employees have lost their jobs as 30 percent hotels and restaurants were forced to shut their doors forever, citing lack of support from government and no other way to survive. Ras Kudiya in Choral Forest Range: attempt to encroach 1.5 acre of land

Attempting to encroach forest area of about 1.5 acre in Choral forest, a large group of villagers burned down bushes and cleared the area on the weekend. The forest area was set to fire and several bushes were cut off. Forest department registered a case against the villagers, as pinpointing anyone was not possible. Christian community will light the candles of hope, love, peace and happiness on Sunday and celebrate the beginning of Advent period. Advent is a season of the liturgical year observed in most Christian denominations as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for both the celebration of the Nativity of Christ at Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second Coming. Sindhi Community in Indore steps up to support society in fighting coronavirus with medical equipments

The struggle with coronavirus outbreak has amplified for everyone be it a small business owner or a daily labour. In suicide case of self-styled godman Bhaiyyu Maharaj's daughter Kuhu tells court that she has no idea about property and income of the trust account run by her deceased father. Several youths and members of NGOs in the city have joined hands to help the citizens obtain Ayushman Bharat cards that provide healthcare for Covid-19 and other diseases in government and empanelled private hospitals. Namo Namo Shankara, an NGO led by MP Shankar Lalwani under the leadership of Pankaj Fatechandani formed to fight Covid-19, launched a drive conducting free camps for helping people get Ayushman Bharat cards and Samagra ID. Following Delhi government’s suggestion to CBSE demanding reduction in syllabus for board examination 2020-21 and delay in exam dates, the discussion has taken a toll on teachers and students preparing for boards this session. Putting their worries to rest, chairperson of Indore Sahodaya Complex of CBSE schools UK Jha said, “The board had sought opinion from all the school principals of CBSE schools to make its judgement and as per official sources, most principals have consented that there is no need to reduce the syllabus as of now.” He added that most schools have completed over 90 percent syllabus comfortably for class X and class XII. “Students have been able to complete the syllabus in online classes, so reducing the syllabus is not really necessary for any of the board classes,” Jha said. 24 government school principals fail to provide repair information to receive sanctioned funds

Due to heavy rainfall and water logging, about 45 government schools in state and 24 in Indore district were in swamp and damaged. In need of urgent repairs, government schools are losing hope as school principals couldn’t care less and fail to apply for the funds of repair despite repeated reminders from district education officer (DEO). On Monday, DEO in-charge Sanjay Goyal sent a notice to 24 government schools in Indore district seeking an explanation for not submitting requisite information for repair funds. Citing their responsibilities and sanctioning of funds, he ordered the schools to submit all the necessary details for repairs in the school within 3 days.

Last date to apply for reserved category scholarship in Madhya Pradesh extended

In the academic session 2020-21, the last date for online application for scholarships has been extended to November 30, 2020. Eligible students can apply for the scholarship on government education portal. Scholarships will be provided under Scheme Name: Post Metric Scholarship for SC (Department Post Metric Scholarship for SC) for the minority students. About 68 percent students in reserve category will not receive their scholarships this year, as their accounts are still not updated by schools despite warnings from school education department. Scholarships for reserved category students studying in government and private schools are doomed, despite provisions. Till now only 32% of eligible students for scholarship have updated account information. Hence, as of now 68% students will not receive their scholarship. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore is ready for a new director and calling for the post, Government of India, Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, Technical Department – 1 advertised for the vacant post on Saturday. OTBA proves easy: 33.33% students to get merit in revision test

In the tough times of coronavirus, ‘Open Text Book Assessment’ (OTBA) delighted students of classes 9th to 12th, attempting their first revision test of the academic session 2020-21. The first revision test was conducted on Friday for Mathematics. About 33.33 percent are expected to get in the merit list, i.e. score between 80 and 100 percentile. This is the first time for these students to attempt OTBA based test. While many students were initially afraid and worried, the test turned out to be easier than expected. Most students attempting the test are hoping to beat their previous highest records and even score 100 percent. “The number of students scoring merit, i.e. between 80 to 100 percentile will be much higher in the revision test as compared to before, as we can see from initial screening and assessment of answer copies,” Sunayna Sharma, government school teacher, said. Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) started the necessary process of enrolment and filling the examination form for class 10th and 12th for the session 2020-21. “Students, who have failed in class 10th or 12th board examination, need not to enrol again. They can fill the form directly,” MPBSE divisional officer Deven Sonwani said. For this, students have to log on to www.mpbse.nic.in and fill the application form for attempting the examination.

Payments of RTE pending for 2 years, MP board schools claim extortion of money via bribery

Despite the transfer of amount from state government, local authorities are not transferring the amount of students studying under Right to Education (RTE) Act to various private schools demanding excessive proposals and payments citing short-comings in the same, claimed Madhya Pradesh Board Private School Association, Indore. Association patron Gopal Soni said, “As per the process of RTE, the entire procedure must be completed online and the last check is done by nodal officer in the school. Amidst strict COVID 19 guidelines, thousands of people of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and eastern India living in various parts of the city and adjoining regions offer `arghya’ to the setting Sun on Friday on the third day of Chhath Mahaparv. The 36-hours fast of Chhath devotees commenced in the city from Thursday with `kharna’. Devotees with their families immersed in religious fervour with dress up, worship and celebrations. The 36-hour fast had begun after consuming special prasad of jaggery `kheer’, wheat flour rotis on earthen chulha.
