SGSITS to develop Telemedicine, cold storage, etc. suggested by MSME minister Omprakash Saklecha

Telemedicine, cold storage, open source software and other products for various industries will be developed by Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science in the coming years. This was discussed and planned in a meeting with Minister for MSME (Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) Omprakash Saklecha on Friday.

In a visit to various departments, the minister suggested developing various products at the institute for supporting ‘Make in India’ initiative. “The suggestions for various departments will be looked into and we will be working on utilising our technology to develop the required products for our country,” college director Dr Rakesh Saxena said.

Among various products, telemedicine is one of the most essential and quick to spread technology in times of coronavirus outspread.

Telemedicine: growing healthcare need today

Telemedicine allows health care professionals to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients at a distance using telecommunications technology. The approach has been through a striking evolution in the last decade and it is becoming an increasingly important part of the healthcare infrastructure.

Four elements are germane to telemedicine:

1.       Its purpose is to provide clinical support.

2.       It is intended to overcome geographical barriers, connecting users who are not in the same physical location.

3.       It involves the use of various types of information and communication technologies (ICT).

4.       Its goal is to improve health outcomes.

MSME to discuss subsidy and rent waver

“IT sector has taken covid-19 as an opportunity. We are working on connecting all these companies and finding solutions to various problems. Taking these opportunities, we are building a new policy. We will be looking into various issues shared by the industry, including subsidy and rent waver.

To make a student employable or the one who gives employment, we need to build entrepreneurship in children. Hence, we are institutes to work on start-ups.”

Need to learn modern technologies & entrepreneurship to be employable: Sakhalecha

In the discussion with department heads, Sakhalecha said that technical educational institutions should conduct courses according to the need of modern technologies and industries.

“Technical education institutes should pay special attention to theoretical as well as practical training to the students so that the youth can gain expertise. He said that help should also be made to link industrial institutions with new technologies,” he said.

Sankhalecha said, “Special efforts should be made to make self-sufficient Madhya Pradesh and self-sufficient Indore.” He said that technical educational institutes should do new research with the need of the hour; the government will provide them adequate help.

If education and training especially entrepreneurial training will be imparted according to today's technologies and needs, then the youth will not face any problem in employment,” Sankhalecha said.

Sakhalecha released new start up policy and new education policy 2020 by SGSITS.

Saxena shared that the start-up policy intends to built a framework integrates all aspects of building a start-up and supporting initiatives. “The institute has prepared its Innovation and Startup Policy in accordance with this ambitious step of the Government of India's Innovation and Startup Policy , which theoretically adopts NISP in the context of the capabilities and facilities of its Institute,” he said.

Also, to provide and encourage the entire environment for innovation and startup to the students and faculty in the context of the institution, a Micro Action Plan format for incubation and capacity development programs were suggested by the minister.

Sakhalecha inaugurated the newly constructed seismograph observatory at the institute. He said that this will give new height to earthquake data and research in Indore and the state.
