No takers for 33,618 seats in various private schools in the state allotted even after 2nd counselling

Despite second counseling, there were no takers for 33,618 seats in various private schools in the state allotted under The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act or Right to Education Act (RTE) for the academic session 2019-20. Indore has maximum such schools that have been registered under RTE but find no takers as 4,200 seats remain empty. This is highest number of seats in the state that found no takers. Not far behind, Bhopal has 3,444 seats that got no takers despite second round of counselling. Third in line is Ujjain, where 2,038 seats have no takers. The surprising difference can be seen in increased number of seats as many students backed out of admissions hoping to get a better school in second counselling. Sadly, nobody took the allotted school under second counselling increasing the number of vacant seats to the number initially recorded after 15 days of first counselling. Artworks from Indore reach South Korea promoting Recycling

An artist from Indore, Govind Vishwas has prepared a set of artworks recycling art materials, which has been selected in upcoming international recycling art show at South Korea. His artworks alongside world renowned artists would be displayed in the Gangneung Art Gallery from October 7 to 13. “Art is the medium to send a message, but we are using art materials which are affecting the environment negatively,” Vishwas said. Hence, he came up with the idea of recycling previous products and media forms. “Most mix-media artworks use plastics, but instead, I replace it with rubber, which is biodegradable,” Vishwas said. The concepts in his artworks depict how plastic has entangled our lives. “One of my painting shows how plastics enwraps even a free bird and how harmful truly plastic is to every life form, including humans, birds, fishes, mammals, etc,” Vishwas said.

Plastic free India, school students set an example

A group of 1,000 female school students will head out to various areas of the city and distribute newspaper bags to local vendors promoting ‘plastic free India’ and urging them to use paper bags over plastic on Tuesday morning. The students from St Raphael’s Higher Secondary School have prepared 80,000 paper bags from newspapers to raise this cause. The bags were prepared by every student with the help of art teachers studying in nursery to class XII. Identifying 13 major markets including Ranipura, Dawa Bazar, Chawwani, Rajwada and Kothari market, the team of girls will be on this drive prior to Gandhi Jayanti. “We need to inculcate lessons and drive changes, as it is the true meaning of education,” Sr Jancy Joseph, school principal, said. As Hindu community celebrates the grand festival of Navratri, Christian community joins it in their own way by spreading the message of respecting women. The community organised a discussion on ‘Know yourself’ at Dhar Kothi, Indore, raising the concern of female protection by sensitizing boys on Monday. Agrasen Jayanti, the birth anniversary celebrations of a legendary Hindu king Agrasen Maharaj, by celebrated by community members by taking out a procession in the city on Sunday. Agrasen was king of Agroha, and it was from him that Agrawal originated. Agrasen Jayanti is observed on the fourth day of Ashwin month of Hindu calendar. Arham is a teenager fascinated with dinosaurs like many others after watching the series of movies of ‘Jurassic Park’. He is studying in a private school in Dewas. Downpour to continue till for another week

Weather kept surprising people as the day began with a bright scorching sunlight and clear skies, but within minutes the clouds took over and suddenly the streets and gardens were waterlogged. Last date for submitting LOC to CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in its recent circular to all the affiliated schools reminded that the last date to submit List of Candidates (LOC) is approaching. The last date to submit the LOC with normal fee is September 30, 2019 while the deadline to submit the same with late fee fine is October 15, 2019, informed the CBSE in the notification. “The last date with normal fee is approaching fast. All schools are requested to ensure that LOC with normal fee may be submitted as per schedule only. If LOC is submitted after last date i.e. September 30, such cases will invite the late fee. All schedules will remain unaltered,” said the CBSE. Mahalaya, the day indicating the descent of Goddess Durga on Earth, was celebrated by Bengali community in the city on Saturday. Teachers to attend test of their learning on oct 14

After training, government school teachers will again sit for attempting the test papers on October 14. Teachers of five schools from Indore district had failed to deliver 30 percent passing result in class 10 and class 12 Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) examination. The teachers including all such teachers from the state had to attempt the examination testing their knowledge in June. The examination had tested skills of school teachers in about 700 schools by making them appear for an examination similar to class 10 and class 12 board exams. Overall, about 3500 teachers in the state from these ‘underperforming schools’ were tested. From Indore, about 15 teachers will be tested as five schools have failed to deliver minimum 30 percent results in board examination. Helping three others live on, another ‘Green Corridor’ was created in the city on Friday to transport both the kidneys and liver of 65-year-old businessman from Rajasthan. The city set another record 38th green corridor was created in the city, being second this month. Another inch-closer, Indore receives 51.2 inch rainfall

Another inch closer to the record set in 2013 as Indore received over 1 inch rain on Friday bringing the overall record of total rainfall till date to 51.2 inch (1300.1 mm). City received intermittent rain with varied intensity in different in parts of the city. The meteorological department recorded 26.2 mm of rainfall. The meteorological department said city will witness similar weather condition for next few days. On Friday, city recorded a maximum temperature of 27.4 degrees Celsius, which was five degrees below normal while minimum temperature at 23.0 degrees Celsius was two degrees above normal. The maximum temperature, i.e. the temperature of the day, came down from 30 degree Celsuis that was recorded was the last couple of days. This gave relief to residents of the city. However, humidity stayed at 92 percent and further increased to 97 percent in evening. The increase in humidity affected many residents, who found it hard to breath. A group of dancers from Indore bagged 7 prizes in the national dance and drama festival ‘Bansuri Rang Mahotsav’ organised in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. Zila panchayat ordered to provide TC 

After the complaint regarding MP Kids School running without disaffiliation was raised, as per directions, CEO of Zila Panchayat Neha Meena ordered the school to be shut down immediately and transfer certificates to be issued to all the students latest by Thursday.  The complaint was raised by RTI activist Sanjay Mishra, who had initially also launched the complaint about school running various centres without requisite permissions. The order was issued considering the future of children studying in the school that lacks recognition. A procession of 1,000 young bikers headed from Indore to Betma chanting verses from Guru Granth Sahib on the way on Sunday. The procession was taken out by the community members to re-define ‘cool’ as reciting verses of Guru Nanak and aiming towards spiritual growth. Community members are celebrating the 550th Gurupurab or Guru Nanak Prakash Parv with grand events every month. Non-teaching staff protests at SGSITS

About 250 non-teaching staff of Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS) staged a protest against the administration demanding a promotion policy on Saturday. “We have been protesting for the issue for last 10 years, but till date, the college refuses to have a promotion policy for non-teaching staff,” Lokesh Jain, secretary of association of non-teaching staff, said. He added that the proposal about formulating a policy was accepted by the general body, but has not been implemented.

100 Assist professors to be hired every year: Jitu Patwari

Minister of higher education Jitu Patwari, on Saturday, announced providing relief to all those candidates who have been waiting to join as assistant professors since last year. He was conversing with students at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) at auditorium, after inaugurating the DAVV energy department Anusudhan Kendra. “Candidates selection is complete for the examination conducted for the post of assistant professor last year and appointments would be completed soon,” Patwari said. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is taking matters into hand and reversing the system for school communication and examination with standardization, and change is as expected difficult for many. This was shared by Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, controller of examination, CBSE, Delhi in an exclusive interaction. Bhardwaj was in the city for Sahodaya meet. In the interaction, Bhardwaj justified the fee hike and shared issues faced by the board due to lack of standardisation and conflicting views of school principals. CBSE has increased its examination fees for Class 10 and Class 12 by 200 per cent and 40 per cent, respectively, to Rs 1,500 each. Officer suspended for abusing physically challenged clerk and principal

Acting upon the complaint filed by school principal Priti Chouhan at Zila Panchyat (ZP) and District Education Office, ZP CEO (chief executive officer) Neha Meena suspended the officer and hoped to set an example of the case. The written complaint signed by 26 teachers was submitted at the offices demanding action against Shanik Jain, who is working as a clerk in Government School, Bijalpur was submitted last week. Jain had abused Piyush Goyal, online transaction in-charge and Priti. “Goyal, who is physically challenged, is responsible for all the online work including downloading of bills and salary lists,” Priti said.
