A group of dancers from Indore bagged 7 prizes in the national dance and drama festival ‘Bansuri Rang Mahotsav’ organised in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. Senior dancer Geeta Pillai was honoured with "Shri Ji Samman" for her contribution to preserve classical dance and efforts as a team manager for classical dancers.
Choreographer of the performances, Ashish Pillai said, “We presented various concepts through bharatanatyam, kathak, mohiniattam and folk dance.” In mohiniattam, they had performed ‘thillana’. A thillana is a rhythmic piece in Carnatic music that is generally performed at the end of a concert and widely used in classical Indian dance performances.
“Our folk group, which won first prize, showcased ‘gondhal’ dance of Maharashtra,” Pillai said. The dance showcased various forms of goddess.
“Classical performances were based on teental of Hindustani music, which opened with a ‘stuti sarva mangal mangalye’ followed by a bhajan,” Pillai said. Further, kathak segment continued concluded with a tarana.

1. Second prize group dance
2. First prize solo: Purva pande (Mohiniattam)
3. Second prize solo: Palak Panchal (Kathak)
4. Presidential award solo: Khushi Iyer (Bharatanatyam)
Folk dance:
First prize in Group dance
Semi Classical:
1. Third prize solo: Richa Dubey
2. Presidential award solo: Piyush Motghare
