City buses overlook SC’s ban, continue blocking rear window screens with advertisements: threat to women and road safety

The blanket ban on curtains, tinted glass and any other material blocking view by the Supreme Court (SC) has rendered ineffective for city buses running in Indore. The city buses run by AiCTSL (Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited) are covered in vinyl advertisements. Following the horrific Nirbhaya gang-rape case, SC in 2012, prohibited the use of black films of any visual light transmission (VLT) or any other material (such as curtains or mesh) upon safety glass, window screens (whether front or rear) and side glass of all vehicles, irrespective of the percentage of visual light permitted or blocked, throughout the country. Despite that, city buses in Indore have completely banned light transmission from rear window screens with large flex banners featuring advertisements. CBSE Pre-examination Psychological counselling will begin from Feb 1

Pre-examination Psychological counselling will begin from Feb 1 for students attempting class X/XII CBSE (central board of secondary education) examination 2019-20. The facility will continue till March 30, while they are appearing for exams.  This special facility is designed as part of the board’s outreach programme which caters to the heterogeneous students’ and parent’s population and vast geographical network of schools in and outside India. CBSE helpline counsellor Jaydep Kar said, “CBSE has included IVRS and live tele-counselling facility for students, which will help students resolve their pre-examination jitters.” The Board has made the facility of IVRS free of cost on Toll free number 1800 11 8004. In addition to IVRS, live tele-counselling will be provided on the same toll free number by 95 Principals and trained counsellors from within CBSE affiliated schools located in and outside India (22). The service is provided from 8 AM to 10 PM on all days.

59 cases were pending at school education department; action against pension officer

A total of 59 cases of Indore district were found pending in the pension camp of school education department, out of which 46 cases were resolved and 26 cases remained. After the closure of the camp, the pending pension case was reviewed again in the division, in which it was found that the pending pension case was not prepared and presented by Ajay Ghonsare Lekhal, official of Government Higher Secondary School Rajendra Nagar, Indore. Joint director of school education Manish Verma has proposed penalty of two increments to be prevented with non-contractual effect under the Manprasivil Seva (Classification Control and Appeal) Rules 1966 (16) on Lekhal for his negligence and indifference in resolving pension cases.

Beating cold with fitness, Fit India Ambassador Aarti Maheshwari organised a zumba session in snow at Nathula Pass, Sikkim. As the temperature hit minus 10 degree Celsius, Aarti decided to plan an impromptu training of zumba with local residents and women group. Gathering the local residents, Aarti quoted the importance of fitness and not just losing weight. “Not everyone who is skinny is healthy, so we must understand the importance of staying fit in every condition,” she said. Do you remember the earthquake in Bhuj, Gujarat in 2001? Even if you were not in Indore to feel the earth shaking under your feet to inform you about it, you must have heard and read about it. Preparing the state and nearby states to be informed of such earthquakes, Indore will have a long range seismograph installed at Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science by next month. A seismograph is an instrument used to detect and record earthquakes. “It consists of a mass attached to a fixed base. During an earthquake, the base moves and the mass does not. The motion of the base with respect to the mass is commonly transformed into an electrical voltage,” explained college director Dr Rakesh Saxena. The work for installation of the seismograph is in progress at the institute and expected to complete the base in a month. Chaitanya Rath Yatra touring India on the golden jubilee year of Sahaj Yoga reached Indore on Sunday. The Rath took off from village Nargol, Gujarat on 5 May 2019, and reached city on 26 January. As shared by coordinator Vivek Jhawar, the chariot arrived to a grand welcome by followers. “About 5,000 followers participated in the grand welcome ceremony and was followed by a yoga session,” he said. CBSE extend relaxations to the wards of Armed Forces and Para-Military Forces martyred

In 2020, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to extend relaxations to the wards of Armed Forces and Para-Military Forces, who were fighting terrorism and left wing extremism etc. for the country, and are martyred in the line of duty.  The CBSE circular comes in the wake of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama in which 40 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force were killed. After Pulwama attack, CBSE in 2019 decided to give certain exemptions to the wards of martyred of Armed Forces and Para-Military Forces. Students can submit their requests to schools, which will be forwarded to the regional office by February 28. CBSE Reading Challenge: Moving from memorisation to Analytical understanding

To help students move from memorisation to problem solving and analytical understanding, Central Board of Secondary Education has organised Reading Challenge for students of classes VIII to X. Students will be required to focus on both speed and accuracy. The question paper with reading tasks will comprise 5-8 passages, each passage followed by objective type questions. Participants are expected to complete the paper as quickly as possible. Students who correctly answer the paper in the shortest duration of time will be selected. The challenge will consist of two stages: 1. Round one: CBSE affiliated schools can register themselves for the reading challenge through the link available on the official website. This is the most important document without which students will not get the entry in CBSE Examination Centres. As examination are approaching, most students are likely to face writer’s cramp, headaches and body pains due to strained life, but this is not natural and can be avoided. This was explained by physiotherapist Dr Priyanka Tiwari to students of a private CBSE school in the workshop organised by Create Stories on Monday. Organiser Deepak Sharma quoted the importance of guidance for students and explained that issues developed in children affects a person’s entire life often causing several medical issues. “During examination, most children quit all other activities and spend all their time studying or relaxing with gadgets,” Priyanka said. A group of 24 students along with their two mentors, from Viborg Gymnasium Og HF, Denmark visited Choithram School North Campus as part of Education Exchange Programme.
