The Bengali School, Navlakha, Indore, in
collaboration with Paschim Banga Natya Akademy, Ministry of Culture, Govt of
West Bengal has organised three-day drama festival of Bengali plays to be
staged at Ravindra Natya Grah on Jan 25, 27 and 28.
The three plays will be staged by theatre
groups from Kolkata, who staged the same plays in India and abroad recently.
As shared by club president Asit Ganguli, “This
will be the first time when the theatre lovers of Indore can witness contemporary
professional Bengali theatre of different genres.” He added that the plays have
been selected to showcase a variety of subjects.
“The plays will be entertaining, but will
provide the apprentices of this art ample opportunity for contemplation, and to
the serious spectator - adequate material to ponder,” Ganguli said.
The three plays to be staged are:
·
Aparajita by Noble laureate Rabindranath
Tagore
It is a drama based on
three short stories.
·
Teni Da by Narayan
Gangopadhyaya
The drama is slapstick
comedy bringing a lot of queer characters. The story melts down to an
adventurous detective plot and this gang of four encounter a series of
fun-packed episodes. The plot has a soft and subtle love-story also.
·
Bhoy by Bratya Basu
It is a psychological
thriller.
