Inspiring such a chain of goodness, educationist Keran Bahadur started a unique drive ‘A handful of Kindness’ in her school Colonel’s Academy, Mhow about a decade back. In the last decade, she has not only transformed the lives of abandoned seniors, but inspired a long chain of goodness by involving students. “I began this drive by sensitising students about how much a handful can mean, when we went to nearby villages to identify people who needed help,” Keran said. Tanver's support to Joint Mission Higher Secondary School, Nanda Nagar?

A complaint against BRC (block resource coordinator) Rajendra Singh Tanver was raised by activist Sanjay Mishra showing his involvement in approval of affiliation of Joint Mission Higher Secondary School, Nanda Nagar on Monday. The complaint received by collectorate to be forwarded to Joint Director, School Education Department, Indore, quoted the lack of ramps and allotment of ground floor to shops by the school. Furthermore, it alleged that the Tanver had given approval noting the availability of playground on rent, which is nowhere to be seen around the school. Joint director has not received the complaint, but will act upon it as and when forwarded.

Leopard's mysterious death in Dewas at the age of 3

Found resting with limited movement near a pond in Dewas, Indian leopard took his last breath on the way to Indore. To find out the reason for mysterious death of the endangered species, post mortem was conducted in Dewas on Monday. The leopard was spotted by villagers on Sunday, sitting by the pond. “The leopard seemed rather still as they are naturally alert and swift in movement,” Dewas forest ranger Jaiveer Singh said. The leopard was about 3-year-old and probably came to drink water. “He was sitting in the back forest of Dhanigathi village about 6 kilometres from Hatpipliya,” Singh said. It was not unusual to find the leopard in the area, as there are reportedly 5 to 7 leopards residing in the forest. “This one was quite young and had scratches over head, legs and paws,” Singh said. CTET paper not leaked, clarifies CBSE, warns of misleading reports

Director of CTET (Central Teacher’s Eligibility Test) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a clarification and warned teachers not be mislead by some news reports stating that the question paper of CTET exam December 2019 was leaked from Kanpur city. “It has also been claimed in these news that the alleged question paper was leaked one and a half hour before the commencement of exam and went viral on WhatsApp,” the notice explained. It added that these reports also claim that the leaked question paper is exactly like the actual question paper and that STF (special task force) has collected evidence and arrested some persons. Anti-CAA protests in Khajrana, Chandan Nagar, Azad Nagar, Bombay Bazaar, Sadar Bazaar: Over 10,000 Muslims take to streets

Over 10,000 members of Muslim community took to streets in the city on Monday to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). Carrying placards and raising slogans, protesters that included religious heads of different Muslim communities, demanded that the union government scrap CAA and NRC. Most people who staged protest were either students or professionals from different fields. A few people associated with different organisations had also come to register protest against the citizenship law. Protesters came together in Bombay Bazaar, Chandan Nagar, Sadar Bazaar, Khajrana and Azad Nagar, which are city’s Muslim predominant areas. Half- day bandh was observed in Khajrana as Muslims pressed for their demands. Commencing the grand celebrations of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, Sikh community members took out a procession in the city on Sunday. The procession began from Tower square, where community members had gathered in traditional attire in white and blue combinations at 11 am. Sikh Sangat from Rau, Pithampur, Betma Sahib's Kirtani and Shabdi Jathas, along with two Sindhi Sangat's Jatha, and 33 Gurdwara Sahibs of Indore, gathered for the grand procession. 1054 government schools to become ‘School of Excellence’ in Indore;Target to bring up 90 percent school student performance to ‘A’ grade by February

School education department plans to transform 1054 government schools as ‘School of Excellence’ in Indore by next academic session. This was announced in the divisional review meeting. In the meeting called by school education department joint director (Indore division) Manish Verma, district education officers (DEOs), district project coordinators (DPCs), principals of District Institute for Education and Training (DIET), BRCs (block resource coordinators), and BACs (block academic coordinators) were present. In order to transform schools, all the officers have to ensure bringing up the performance of students in schools. “Within next two months, i.e. by February, we have given a target to the heads to ensure that 90 percent students come in ‘A’ grade performance,” Verma said. Joint Mission Higher Secondary School, Nanda Nagar has been issued a notice of disaffiliation by School Education Department due to school’s negligence towards child safety. Further, the school has been questioned on use of terrace for annual function and lack of required grounds on the campus. The school was issued the notice following the complaint of a class XI student falling from the school terrace at local police station. In the notice issued by school education department joint director (Indore division) Manish Verma, the school is required to explain their case within seven days as per protocol. “The school has renewed its affiliation in 2015 when the MP Recognition of Secondary and Higher Secondary School Rules, 2015 was applicable,” Verma said. On the 41st day of 60-day Mandala Puja at Lord Ayyappa temple, Mahalaxmi Nagar, ‘Nalpothunu Puja’ with 16 types of prayers was performed to celebrate the special day. Indore records 'Coldest Night' of the season

The icy winds take over as Indore recorded the coldest night of the season on Friday. The minimum temperature recorded in Indore was just about 1 degree below normal. The temperature fell by 3.6 degree in 24 hours making the dip feel cooler to residents. People were forced to wrap themselves under woollens and also lit bonfires to ward off chilly condition. As per met department officials, the temperature is likely to dip further and Indore is likely to experience a colder night on Dec 31, as we dive into 2020. The minimum temperature took a dip in the entire state with coldest night recorded in Gwalior in state. Minimum temperature recorded in Gwalior was 3.3 degree Celsius. Indore had by far the warmest night when compared with other cities in the state as it recorded the highest minimum temperature in state of 9.4 degree Celsius. Population of Saras Crane at Yashwant Sagar down at from 170 to 50

Yashwant Sagar, declared as one of the 19 important bird areas of MP, has seen a steep downfall in population of Saras Crane. This was disclosed by scientist Dr KS Gopi Sundar in his lecture on ‘SarusScape: conserving water birds in agriculture areas’ organised by The Nature Volunteers at Pritam Lal Dua auditorium on Thursday. “The last time I came to Indore for a bird survey in 1998, there were 170 cranes at Yashwant Sagar and now, it is has been recorded as 50 only,” Sundar said. He estimated the reason to be excessive use of pesticides in the area and use of lake bed for agriculture. “The biggest threat for birds is not hunting, it is urbanisation,” Sundar said. Dec 25: Last day to challenge CTET answer key

Today is the last the day to challenge answer keys of Central Teacher’s Eligibility Test (CTET) 2019. Teachers, who attempted CTET 2019 on December 8, 2019, can check the answer keys. Candidates can download the response sheet and answer key from the official website. . To access the answer key, candidates will be required to login into the website using their login id and password. “The scanned images of the OMR sheets of candidates appeared in CTET December 2019 have been uploaded on the website for viewing of candidates up to December 25, 2019,” reads the official notice. Candidates have till December 25, 2019 to challenge the answer key. To do so, they will have to pay a refundable fee of Rs 1,000 per question through credit/debit card. Most students are quite happy with the date-sheet Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations released by the board recently, but a minor fault in the date-sheet is confusing for many schools and students. The date-sheet released by the board for Class X mentions examination for English Communicative (EC) (subject code 101) scheduled on February 26. The board had decided to discontinue the EC course for Class 9 and 10 across the country as announced in March 2018.   The examination according to the date-sheet is scheduled on the same day as English Literature and Language (ELL). With the decision of removing EC, the second option of ELL had become the mandatory subject by default. Not just giving them shelters, but homes, Indian Institute of Management Indore is perhaps the first in the country to give names and birthdays to all the 40 dogs living in a shelter in college campus. “It is not about giving them a place in our campus, but in our heart so we are trying to ensure their happiness and comfort with our little steps every year,” Himanshu Rai, IIM Indore director said. Forest Department organised Anubhuti camp to enhance sensitivity in school children towards nature, forests and wild animals at Tincha Fall on Friday. Over 131 students with their teachers from schools in Tillore, Chikhli and Tincha area participated in the Camp. During the camp, retired forest officers Abhay Jain and MS Jain told the students about the nature, name, behaviour and utility of forests in the area. DFO Mohanlal Harit and SDO Sandeep Goutam talked about wild animals, birds and trees through park excursion and nature path tour.
