Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti celebrations begin: cleanliness drive, tableaux & performances


Commencing the grand celebrations of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, Sikh community members took out a procession in the city on Sunday. The procession began from Tower square, where community members had gathered in traditional attire in white and blue combinations at 11 am.
Sikh Sangat from Rau, Pithampur, Betma Sahib's Kirtani and Shabdi Jathas, along with two Sindhi Sangat's Jatha, and 33 Gurdwara Sahibs of Indore, gathered for the grand procession.
All the vehicles operating in Nagar Kirtan had blue marks on them. The entire route of the kirtan was decorated with blue markings.
The procession was headed by a decorated carriage, which indicated the arrival of the ‘nagar kirtan’. Following the carriage Jasbir Singh Chhabra carried ‘Paath Nishan Sahib’.
Children from schools of all Sikh societies also joined the kirtan and were walking in a queue. The procession swept and washed the roads of the city.
Gurmat Prachar Jatha and Gurprasad Jathe managed and organised the cleaning drive. The community members had willingly joined the cleanliness drive as a part of procession doing the chore as ‘sewa’.
After cleaning the flowers were laid on the roads to welcome the tableaux.
Tableaux depicting unity
Tableaux depicting lessons, life works and incidents from the life of Guru Gobind Singh were prepared and handled by community members. The tableaux was prepared on 5 truck-trolleys depicting ‘Amrit Chhaktek Panj Pyare’.
Second tableaux displayed Guru enjoying childish condition of handling two glasses of milk depicting Hindu and Muslim community. The idea was to show equality amongst all.
Words were engraved in the tableaux by Shri Guru Ganth Sahib Ji's Palki Sahib and Madhya Pradesh Sikkha Yuva Manch.
‘Nishan Sahib’ (community flag) was highlight on the tableaux.
Route of procession
The procession started from Tower swuare and travelled towards Vikas Rekha Complex via Guru Gobind Singh Ji Marg Bridge. Further the procession covered Pratap Nagar, Nishan-e-Khalsa, intersection at Collector office, Moti Tabela, Pandhari Nath and Gurdwara Imli Sahib. In the evening from Imli Sahib, the grand procession reached Gurdwara Topkhana Sahib at Rajwada via Kishanpura Bridge.
On the route of procession, food items were served by community members including local Indori cuisine, fruits and beverages. About 150 stalls were put up by community members for free service.
Performances
The highlight of various performances was Veer Rasa (gallantry) in the procession. There were two major teams presenting variety of Gatka martial art form. The Gatka Party performed fire mission, and caught attraction of people by slicing coconuts in one shot.

Before Pentecost, Christian community helps underprivileged families with ration

Prior to Pentecost, Christian community is following the lessons taught by Jesus Christ and helping those in need. In their drive to help underprivileged families, Christian volunteers forming a group are providing ration packets to them. Christian holiday of Pentecost, which is celebrated the 49th day (the seventh Sunday) after Easter Sunday, will be celebrated on May 31 this year. What are the precautions for prevention of corona virus? Special instructions for School Students

School Education Department issued an advisory to all the school heads and officers regarding precautions to be taken against the deadly novel coronavirus to prevent the spread of infection among school children. The advisory was sent out at the direction of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India with a photocopy of the letter attached.
