1054 government schools to become ‘School of Excellence’ in Indore;Target to bring up 90 percent school student performance to ‘A’ grade by February

School education department plans to transform 1054 government schools as ‘School of Excellence’ in Indore by next academic session. This was announced in the divisional review meeting.
In the meeting called by school education department joint director (Indore division) Manish Verma, district education officers (DEOs), district project coordinators (DPCs), principals of District Institute for Education and Training (DIET), BRCs (block resource coordinators), and BACs (block academic coordinators) were present.
In order to transform schools, all the officers have to ensure bringing up the performance of students in schools. “Within next two months, i.e. by February, we have given a target to the heads to ensure that 90 percent students come in ‘A’ grade performance,” Verma said.
The target seems possible to the department if all the officers ensure quality education. Currently, as per the scorecard of Indore, which was also released in the meeting, following is the performance.
Students in ‘A’ grade performance: 30 percent
Students in ‘B’ grade performance: 28 percent
Students in ‘C’ grade performance: 31 percent
“So, logically, the target it to bring up C grade performance to B in a month and simultaneously B to A,” Verma said. Consequently, by February the ‘B’ grade performance can be brought up to ‘A’ to achieve the target.
These targets were initially decided by commissioner Akash Tripathi.
Class 5th & 8th board from next academic session
Class 5th and 8th will be board examinations from the upcoming academic session 2020-21. This would ensure that students are not ignoring their primary and middle school education. To ensure that all students are performing, the school education department instructed the officers to prepare students for boards.
“We will be conducting trainings and meetings for the same, and underperforming teachers will also be marked,” Verma said.
