Consumer Day on Dec 24: To educate consumers about the Consumer Protection Act 2019

To educate consumers about the Consumer Protection Act 2019, an educative program where consumers can clear their doubts and get proper guidance will be organised on National Consumer Day, i.e. December 24. The program will be organised at Krishi Mandi Complex in Depalpur, as directed by state government.
Chief guest and main speaker will be District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum Indore 2 president Om Prakash Sharma and special guest will be MLA Vishal Patel. Special guest speaker will be District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum Indore -1 Satyendra Joshi Indore.
Quoting why we need consumer protection, Sharma said, “There are n number of products in the market which are injurious to the health of the consumer, adulteration, false weights, monopoly and unfair trade practice are some of the issues that need to be tackled and are to be addressed to protect the consumer against it.”
He added that first step of consumer protection is consumer education. “Further, consumer grievances should be redressed and the judicial body has to ensure justice, so we trying to educate consumers in rural areas, which is needed today,” Sharma said.
The discussion will cover protection of consumers, their rights and possible course of actions for approaching consumer forum. Further, an exhibition of local items, cases and artefacts has also been organised.
