Ahilyabai Holkar Jayanti: A ruler with a difference

Born in 1725, when women stayed in confines of their home/palaces, Ahilyabai Holkar was the first to become educated and further a ruler of Malwa plateau. Honouring her memory and contribution on Ahilya Jayanti, Indore which was developed by her remembered her fondly. Unlike every year, people could not gather for the grand procession and mass celebrations. However, the celebrations continued in a different way this year. Family members gathered to retell the stories of the Queen and her rule. The history of Indore from a small town to a prosperous city and business centre of MP inevitable a major highlight. College heads, airport director and other people visited the statue of Ahilyabai built in DAVV (Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidhyalaya), Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport, Rajwada and other places. Run for Tobacco Free India in Lockdown 4.0

Pacing and running in their homes on Sunday, about 4,000 people revised the ill-effects of having tobacco and joined the campaign ‘Say No To Tobacco’ in Lockdown Marathon 4.0. The marathon organised by Indori Subah was a free and open run for everyone on World No Tobacco Day. World No Tobacco Day is observed around the world every year on May 31. ‘Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use’ was the theme for World Tobacco Day 2020. Staying in confines of their homes, runners chose their comfortable time and ran/walked for 30 minutes, 60 minutes or 120 minutes. CBSE cautioned students, parents and schools against people posing as board officials & asking for money in return for increasing marks.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cautioned students, parents and schools against some immoral persons posing as board officials and asking for money in return for increasing marks. In the advisory to parents and students, CBSE said, “It has come to the notice of CBSE that some unscrupulous persons impersonating themselves as officers/ officials of CBSE are contacting the general public claiming to have access to student marks data and asking for money in lieu of increasing marks.” “All the students/parents/schools are advised to remain alert and vigilant and prevent themselves from being cheated and share details with local police authorities for stringent action under the law,” the advisory added. The Board has also asked people to make others aware of such fraudulent acts. Further, CBSE added that the board will not be responsible for any such fraudulent transactions and/or consequences arising out of it.

11 specially-abled stuck in Indore return home to UP

Due to lockdown, 11 specially-abled people from Uttar Pradesh were stuck in Indore away from their families. Out of these 11, three were visually impaired and 11 were hearing impaired. Difficulty to communicate and commute was a major issue for these people, who were working in various fields and completing their education in Indore. With no way to earn their bread, they wanted to return home but were facing difficulty in communicating and finding requisite support. No need to travel to exam centres for pending exams, CBSE says after hearing the dilemma of boarders

Following the dilemma of boarding students, Central Board of Secondary Education followed in the footsteps of Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) and announced that students will be allowed to give examination in their hometowns and need not travel to their examination centres. Official notification in this regards would be issued in June first week, as per CBSE’s announcement. “It has come to the notice that due to closure of schools and because of spread of Covid-19 and lockdown, some students are now not present at the station from where they were appearing in examinations, prior to postponement of the examination and it would be difficult for them to appear in the scheduled examination from their existing examination centre,” the board said.
