A practical mela was conducted at the Indore Deaf Bilingual Academy (IDBA) during its 31st summer camp, featuring Deaf students from nursery to college level.
The event, run by Mook Badhir Sangathan, focused on bridging the gap between textbook mathematics and daily life applications. Students worked in collaborative groups of four to five to prepare projects that brought complex concepts to life.
Advanced Concepts
- Financial Literacy: LIC insurance, basic concepts of GST, and Bank/ATM operations.
- Geometry: 2D–3D transformations and logical puzzles.
- Market Math: Demonstrations involving fruit, vegetable, and ration sales.
Junior Level & Food Logic
- Foundations: Shapes, "before and after," and the concept of ones, tens, and hundreds.
- Interactive Stalls: Food stalls for Pani Puri, Chaat, Bhel, and Nimbu Pani used to explain real-time pricing and transactions.

Voices from the Mela
Sonal Kumar (Class 12 Commerce) explained the group's strategy: "We explained concepts through activities like stalls and models." Fellow student Dhairya Goyal (Class 10) added, "The projects included examples from daily use such as buying and selling items."
