Blades Beyond Barriers: Students Step into Para-Fencing Arena

Samriddhi Kumar, Alfaiz Mugal, and Vandan Chawla, students of Urjasvini Special School, Indore, have been selected to compete in the district-level para-fencing championship.

The championship is organised by the Indore Fencing Sports Development Association, and the three athletes will participate specifically in the foil event.

Empowerment Through Sports

School director Vini Jhariya emphasized that sports participation is vital for children with special needs to build confidence and independence. “Platforms like para-fencing encourage them to step forward and compete with determination,” she noted.

The Coach's Vision

The athletes have been training under Sayeed Alam, a fencing coach and self-defence instructor who has been mentoring them for the competition.

Alam highlighted the students' exceptional willpower: “Para-fencing athletes are second to none in terms of willpower and courage. Their hard work and self-confidence inspire everyone”. He believes that with continued opportunities, these students could eventually represent Indore at both state and national levels.
