From petals to powders: Sanawadiya village shifts to natural Holi colours

A week-long community training programme on preparing natural colours for Holi has begun at the Jimmy McGilligan Centre, uniting families from four districts.
Led by Janak Palta McGilligan, the workshop teaches simple, plant-based methods to celebrate Holi without harming the skin or environment.

Methods involve solar heating and manual crushing of local flora. For example, Poi Berries produce deep purple when extracted with hot water, while Palash flowers create the traditional saffron-orange liquid.
