Day 1 of CBSE Board Examinations Concludes Smoothly in Indore
The first day of the 2026 CBSE board examinations concluded peacefully across Indore, with high attendance and disciplined conduct reported at nearly 40 examination centres in the city. Approximately 16,000 Class 10 students and around 12,000 Class 12 students from nearly 181 schools appeared for their respective examinations.
Class 10 students wrote the Mathematics (Standard and Basic) paper, while Class 12 students appeared for Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship. All examinations were conducted from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM under strict board guidelines.
Smooth conduct and high attendance
CBSE coordinator U.K. Jha confirmed that the examinations were conducted without disruption.
“The arrangements were systematic across centres, and students adhered to the reporting time and guidelines. Many students looked relieved after completing their papers.”
Officials stated that standard examination procedures were followed and no major incidents were reported from any centre in the city.
Class 10 mathematics: balanced but time-sensitive
Student reactions reflected a mix of confidence and careful evaluation.
Riddhima Bharti said, “The paper was largely from NCERT and was manageable, but some trigonometrical questions required extra concentration. Time management was important.”
Aditya Sharma remarked, “The Standard paper felt easier compared to our pre-boards. The case-based questions needed careful reading, but overall it was fair.”
Simran Kaur shared, “The Basic paper was moderate. A few questions were lengthy, but if concepts were clear, it was doable.”
Maths teacher Vandana Mehta stated, “The Mathematics Standard paper was easy and concept-based, whereas the Mathematics Basic paper was moderate. Students who practiced regularly should not face difficulty scoring well.”
Several students exiting centres described feeling relieved after completing the examination.
Class 12 biotechnology: concept-driven and manageable
Aarti Mehta said, “The paper was manageable and not as difficult as I imagined. Most of the questions were direct and from the syllabus.”
Vipin Kumar Vishwakarma, PGT Biology, observed, “The Biotechnology paper was balanced and primarily NCERT-based. It tested conceptual clarity rather than rote learning. Students who understood the application of topics should find the paper scoring.”
He added, “There were no out-of-syllabus questions. The pattern reflected the board’s focus on competency-based assessment.”
Class 12 entrepreneurship: practical and well-structured
Manraj Maurya said, “The paper was easy and well-structured. The long-answer questions were predictable, and I had enough time to revise my answers.”
Prof. Rahul Bugna, head of the department of commerce, said, “The Entrepreneurship paper was thoughtfully designed. It covered the syllabus comprehensively and included practical case-based questions to assess analytical skills. Overall, it was fair and student-friendly.”
He further noted that students who had prepared their case studies thoroughly would find the paper scoring.
Advisory against fake paper rumours
Prior to the examinations, the Central Board of Secondary Education had issued advisories warning students and parents to ignore fake paper leak rumours circulating on social media. In Indore, local authorities also alerted citizens about fraudulent messages claiming to provide examination papers. Officials clarified that such messages were scams aimed at exploiting student stress and urged candidates to rely only on official communication.
With no reports of malpractice or disruption, Day 1 of the CBSE board examinations in Indore concluded on a steady and confident note, setting a positive tone for the remaining papers.
