Thrilling conclusion of 'The Power of Words' competition, this image embodies the spirit of intellectual excellence and creative brilliance. With 5 Champion Winners, 10 First Runner-Ups, and 25 Second Runner-Ups taking centre stage, the event highlighted the dedication, research, and powerful public speaking skills demonstrated by the students. 
The much-awaited finale of 'The Power of Words', organized by Free Press, concluded in an exciting display of talent, with 5 Champion Winners, 10 First Runner-Ups, and 25 Second Runner-Ups being honored for their exceptional skills. The event, held at the Free Press office on Monday, showcased the remarkable public speaking and presentation abilities of the top 118 finalists out of over 2,000 participants. With judges and guests applauding the finalists' intellectual prowess, this grand finale was a testament to the students' dedication and hard work in selecting impactful topics, conducting research, and presenting their views with clarity and conviction.
The event, designed to test participants’ ability to select relevant and impactful topics, conduct in-depth research, and present their personal views with clarity and conviction, saw an intense display of creativity and intellectual prowess. Students were tasked with choosing a topic derived from the news, with Free Press newspaper serving as their base of inspiration. The topics ranged from social issues to contemporary global challenges, reflecting the diversity of ideas and innovative thinking of the participants.
Evaluation Parameters:
The competition was judged on five criteria: topic selection (relevance and creativity), study material (depth and accuracy), personal opinion (clarity and conviction), presentation impact (ability to inspire), and the Q&A session (confidence and clarity in responses).
The event witnessed participants demonstrating strong communication skills, presenting well-researched arguments, and engaging confidently with the judges and the audience. The Q&A sessions, in particular, were a test of composure and quick thinking, with students skilfully handling challenging questions.
A Platform for Growth and Recognition
The finale was an impressive culmination of months of preparation and hard work, giving participants an opportunity to not only win prizes but also gain valuable feedback from an esteemed panel of judges.

Dr. Jyoti Bindal, Principal of Sri Aurobindo College, shared her insights on the importance of words and language in students' development. "Students should get involved in such activities. These days, students are unfortunately losing the habit of reading. Whether online or offline, they must read," she emphasised. Dr. Bindal highlighted that cultivating reading habits is essential for enriching vocabulary and strengthening communication skills.
Upinder Dhar, Vice Chancellor of Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya, also stressed the value of reading in enhancing student engagement. "It’s a very good initiative to bring the habit of reading back to students," he remarked. He further added that regular reading not only improves language skills but also fosters critical thinking and greater awareness of the world, helping students express their ideas more clearly and persuasively.
Dr. Rakesh Singhai, Vice Chancellor of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, also underscored the role of reading for gaining knowledge. "Books are crucial for acquiring knowledge, and Free Press has shown great interest in promoting this for the betterment of society," he said, highlighting the positive impact of reading on both personal and societal growth.
Dr. Rakesh Dikshit, Vice Chancellor of Renaissance University, praised the innovative efforts of Free Press in encouraging students to read and critically analyze news. "These are new and revolutionary efforts from Free Press for the city. Over the past two to three months, not only have students been encouraged to read, but they’ve also learned how to process and analyze news," he noted. "The entire process of this competition was different and unique, and the Free Press team has worked with great dedication."

Prior to Pentecost, Christian community is following the lessons taught by Jesus Christ and helping those in need. In their drive to help underprivileged families, Christian volunteers forming a group are providing ration packets to them. Christian holiday of Pentecost, which is celebrated the 49th day (the seventh Sunday) after Easter Sunday, will be celebrated on May 31 this year. The holiday commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ. School Education Department issued an advisory to all the school heads and officers regarding precautions to be taken against the deadly novel coronavirus to prevent the spread of infection among school children.
