MP’s first to get selected Army Short Service Technical Computer Science
She failed 10 times in SSB interview & faced more failures, but never gave up!
Committed, courageous and endurant Anushka Malhotra became the first ever aspirant from Madhya Pradesh to get selected Army Short Service Technical Computer Science branch. Not just this, she has earned a merit and made her mark in National Defence Academy (NDA) Service Selection Board (SSB) interview. Malhotra stood at fifth position in the All India Ranking of the test.
Her achievement adds glitters to the shinning Indore’s success streak. However, the journey of this young officer wasn’t easy.
The young NDA aspirant had 10 failed attempts in SSB interview. Malhotra had completed BE from a private college in 2022, she appeared in SSB interview ten times.
She was even recommended three times. However, Malhotra failed in the medicals and was removed from selections in Navy SSB.
She is the only one from MP to get selected in Army short service technical computer science branch and stand fifth in all India merit. Malhotra will be joining the prestigious Officers Training Academy at Chennai for 49 weeks of training. After the training, as per usual norms, she will get commissioned in Army.
So, how did she make it finally after failing over 10 times!
Malhotra said, “I have always been very clear on my goal, so I was trying to get better and better, but still failing.” She struggled to motivate herself but reminded herself of how far she had come.
“I couldn’t accept failure, I had to overcome it and become worthy of serving my country, so I underwent a lot of training and took guidance from mentors, but still failed at the interview,” Malhotra said. She was about to lose the last streak of confidence, when she met Colonel (Retd) Nikhil Diwanji.
Diwanji after retiring from Indian Army trains for SSB. He said, “She was committed and genuinely wanted to serve the country, but there had to be an issue that resulted in her failures.” He conducted a detailed analysis of all previous unsuccessful attempts.
“I could only find faults in personality, which are hard to rectify, because we develop personality over many years consciously or mostly unconsciously,” Diwanji said. He trained her for two months fixing everything from her mind-set to her way of approaching a problem.
The training paid off and she was finally able to make it to serve her country.
Interesting, five lady officers joined the Regiment of Artillery in the last few days. One of the lady officers is posted in Siachin, which is also called as highest battlefield of world.
Diwanji, “It’s a change we see now that lady officers are also getting posted in combat arms, so possibly Malhotra is also likely to fight wars hand in hand with male officers.”
