On August 29, India celebrates National Sports Day on the birth anniversary of hockey hero Major Dhyan Chand. Today, as we celebrate the day, we reiterate the importance of sports in our lives.
Sports are crucial for physical development, balanced lifestyle and overall growth of a person. We recognise the efforts of these young sport persons in city and salute the rising number of champs in the city especially in women teams.
First to represent MP in International Netball Championship
On this National Sports Day, Indore and Madhya Pradesh have a big win to celebrate! A 17-year-old girl from Indore is the first person from the state to represent the country in the International Netball Championship.
Meet Suhani Takker from The Emerald Heights International School, who will be the first from Madhya Pradesh to ever represent India in NetBall.
She has played 2 nationals in net ball before and her performance was appreciated. This is her first international championship. “I was ready for internationals, but since last four years, there was no such championship for netball,” Suhani said.
The Asian Netball Championships 2022 has returned after 4 years and will be held from September 3 to 11, 2022 in Singapore. Suhani will compete among 11 teams from Asia for the title and the top two finishers will also qualify for the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.
“I started playing netball in my school at the age of 11 and it felt like I found my calling,” Suhani said. She is ambitious about representing Indian women on a global level. “My father (Girish Takker) is her biggest motivator, who always pushes me to the edge which makes me better person in life,” Suhani said.
Her parents (Seema and Girish) had initially suggested that she move to basketball as it had more opportunities, but Suhani was stern about her decision and stayed with netball.

Pradhyumna Singh Rathod is playing 4 games from which he has represented India at International level in 2 games and also participated in 6 Swimming nationals in which 4 are open nationals and 2 are SGFI nationals and he is also a national player in water polo representing Madhya Pradesh
• In the 7th version of Malabar River Festival – MRF 2019 Open International Wildwater Kayak & Slalom Competition held at Tusharagiri, Kozhikode, Kerala, from July 26-28, 2019. Pradhyumna won Bronze medal with a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The event was organized by Indian Kayaking & Canoeing Association (IKCA) a registered body of International Canoe Federation and Asian Canoe Confederation in collaboration with Goodwave Adventures (Madras Fun Tools) in coordination with DTPC, Kozhikode. The competition featured events for intermediate wild water kayakers and professionals with a special category of prizes for the best paddlers of the Indian subcontinent.
• Participated in 40th edition of the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships 2019. The event took place from 25 to 29 September 2019 at the Segre Olympic Park in La Seud’Urgell, Spain under the auspices of International Canoe Federation (ICF).
• He participated in Canoe Polo Asian Cup held at Dequing, China from October 23-27, 2019 and bagged 7th position in the world.
• He currently ranked number 2 in India in junior category.
• He was awarded as the Youngest Athlete at Junior Asian Championship held in Iran.
• Pradhyumna of Class-XII participated in the 2022 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championship held from July 26 to 31 in Augsbury, Germany
• Pradhyumna participated in Junior Canoe Slalom World Championship held in Ivrea, Italy and secured 42 nd rank in the world.

Meet a student who made his mark and has been selected in the National football team CISCE in under -19 boys Category 2022
MSB students Ammar Rampurawala participated in Inter School CISCE Regional Football Tournament 2022, under-19 category, which was held in Bhopal on August 19-20. He made his place in the national CISCE team with his excelling performance.
Ammar from class 11 is selected for the CISCE National team and Mustafa Ezzy of class 11th is on standby, hoping to get selected.
Ammar will represent the Nationals at Father Labalong School, Siliguri West Bengal from September 20 to 24.

Udaymaan Singh Rathore once again clinched 2 Gold medals in MP State Shotgun Shooting Championship conducted from Aug 12 to Aug 14. He shot a score of 33 out of 50 and kept his lead in senior as well as junior category in the competition. He is already a nationally renowned shot holding 11th rank at National circuit in the Double Trap event and had won 2 Gold medals in previous edition if MP State Shooting Championship conducted in the year 2021.Presently he is training for upcoming Pre National and National Championships.

She wants to become the next best kick boxer in the country. Her ambition automatically gains support from school and her family members.

Diwankar is a roller skater, who wants to take his interest in the sports to profession in future. Among his recent achievements, he bagged Gold Medal in Madhya Pradesh Roll Ball Championship and Gold Medal in 3rd Roller Skate Basketball Federation Cup 2022.
