Aspirants demand third attempt citing technical glitches; NTA mum on the issues
Amid preparations for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, some aspirants demand a third attempt citing technical glitches and issues affecting their performance. JEE Main 2022 second attempt results are expected soon.
Along with declaration of JEE Main 2022 result, National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the JEE result toppers list, cut-off marks and other details. Based on the cut-off, only the top 2.5 lakh rank holders in JEE Main will be eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced.
Hence, before JEE Main 2022 final results are out, aspirants are urging NTA to consider third attempt citing various technical issues faced by them during the exam.
While the chances are slim, as informed by JEE mentors, aspirants are still holding their hope to get a fair chance.
JEE Main 2022 aspirants had faced a major challenge as they could not see some questions during the online examination. First, aspirants are already facing tougher competition this year, only two attempts and now, technical glitches made it hard for students to achieve the score despite having the potential to do so.
Almost all the centres in Indore had faced an issue where the screen went blank on some questions. Students could not even see the questions. Despite increase in the number of centres this year, the issues cropped up and upset many aspirants. Most students felt a rage towards the centre and now question the authorities on twitter.
Harshil Singh, an aspirant in Indore, who faced technical glitches said, “NTA changed the interface entirely and none of us had practised on this one. This affected our speed and ease of attempting already and with glitches, it was not a fair attempt.”
An aspirant Stuti Agrawal urged NTA and said, “#JEEMainsThirdAttemptForAll Please conduct Jee Main 3rd attempt for all.” She used the trending hashtag #JEEMainsThirdAttemptForAll.
Another aspirant Manan Agrawal said, “NTA is blocking us and it indicates that NTA did a mistake and us trying to hide it from media.” It has blocked students’ email addresses, he claimed with a screenshot. “Is NTA being fair with response sheet error and technical glitches costing students’ future?” Agrawal questioned.
Similar urges and issues were raised by many other aspirants including Armaan Bedi, Mohammad Taha, Somnath Patthanaik and many more.
However, JEE mentors are not particularly hopeful of a third attempt. “It makes sense to provide students a fair chance, but NTA has been quiet on the case and it seems less likely that the authorities will consider students’ plea as yet,” Kamal Sharma, JEE mentor, said.
