State Tiger Strike Force (STSF) Indore will go to Malegaon again in an attempt to arrest the prime suspect in international vulture smuggling soon. Forest Minister Vijay Shah has given a deadline to investigating officers.
In the country's first international vulture smuggling case, forest officials team will go to Malegaon again, as Hashim, a member of the international gang, is absconding.
The Forest Department received some important information about him. The shocking thing is that the smuggler has a shop in Malegaon, from where he does business of animals and birds.
By the way, political pressure is also on the rise in the whole matter. Forest Minister Vijay Shah broke the silence regarding this and said that the officials have been given a deadline to catch the smugglers. “However, the whole matter is under my supervision,” Shah said.
On January 20, Fareed Sheikh, a resident of Unnao, was caught along with seven vultures for smuggling. After this, Hussain, Ateeq and Arif Ahmed were arrested from Sikka port in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
A large cage was also seized in the vehicle.
According to sources, the officers of STSF Indore branch and Khandwa Forest Department could not even properly interrogate due to political intervention and pressure.
They did not even ask the smugglers to answer many questions. Despite taking them on remand, the forest officers did not consider it necessary to find out answers to basic questions like the birds smuggled and where were they sent from Sikka port.
The accused were released on bail ten days ago. According to sources, to save the smugglers, the forest department is hiding some evidences related to smuggling from the court.
At the same time, STSF is also avoiding taking the matter into its own hands.
Forest Minister Vijay Shah had a surprise visit to Indore this week. He directly reached the STSF office in Naulakha position. SDO Pratibha Ahirwar was not present there, so forest ranger Dharamveer Solanki shared details.
Forest Minister Shah said that the department is not protecting any smugglers. Rather, he has insisted the team gather information by going to Malegaon and Uttar Pradesh again.
