Indore Marathoners will be organised from February 6, 2022 to February 13, 2022 virtually due to covid-19
Indore Marathon will be organised virtually this year for a week, due to coronavirus third wave spread over the city. Virtual Marathon to be organised by Academy of Indore Marathoners will be organised from February 6, 2022 to February 13, 2022.
The marathon is organised every year to create awareness about health by promoting exercise. The marathon, which has been going on for the last seven years, will be held virtually this time. This is the 8th Indore marathon.
The marathon will be held for eight days, not just one day as usual. To participate in this, the participants do not need to go anywhere, but they can participate in it by running at home or by going to any nearby garden, ground. Participant will be required to send a screenshot recording their run in a mobile application.
Based on this, they will be considered present in the marathon. Registration will be open on Marathon days as well. The participants can register and attend the event by visiting the website of AIM.
The theme of this marathon, with the aim of increasing immunity and keeping oneself healthy, has been kept as 'Daud Lagao, Corona Bhagao'.
Dr Arun Agrawal, president of AIM, said, “Many researches and experiments have proved that if we do walking, jogging and running regularly then the body's immunity increases and we can stay away from many diseases.” He added that to motivate the same, we are organising the marathon.
“Even last year, a big event was organised keeping full vigilance and this time also we were planning the same initially, but decided to keep more vigil and make it online,” Agrawal said.
Marathon will be held in four categories for eight days
AIM Secretary Vishal Mudgal said that keeping in mind the convenience of the participants, the marathon has not been limited to a single day. Marathon will be held from 6 to 13 February.
The participants can participate in the following categories: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 kms. “If we run regularly, not only can we stay away from corona but many diseases and future infections will also not make us a victim. This is the best, cheapest way which does not require equipment, gym etc.” he said.
After providing the screen shot of completing the activity, the participant will be sent a medal and t-shirt by courier.
Need not complete the race in one go
Race Director CA Abhishek Porwal said that there is a lot of enthusiasm among the participants for the online marathon. “Participants from countries like the UK, USA, Africa, Singapore, Malaysia etc also participate in the marathon every year,” he said.
He added that participants can participate in this event from anywhere at any time. Participants do not have to cover the distance for which they will register at one go.
“For example if a participant has registered for 42 km, then it is not necessary that they complete it in one go, they can complete it over the days,” Porwal said.
