New Year parties 2021-22: No party in Indore due to covid-19

Coronavirus tinted the goodbye to 2021 and the start of 2022 as Indore will not witness any parties, gatherings or celebrations in hotels and resorts this year.
With Covid-19 cases back on the rise, even though govt has not imposed a restriction on parties, no hotel or restaurant is planning a party this year.
“We are not organising any New Year party this year,” president of hotel association Sumit Suri said.
He added that New Year bash could pose a threat of covid-19 spread. “All the hotels, cafes and restaurants have unanimously agreed not to allow any crowding and ensure compliance of covid-19 protocol,” Suri said. He added that food will be served till 11 pm in most places.
“It’s no profit for us or people to organise a party this year, as safety and prevention from covid-19 is of prime importance now,” Suri said. He added that no such demand for parties is also seen anywhere in city.
“The usual party lovers are also smart enough to understand the importance of controlling the spread of virus so we are not foreseeing any possible demand for a party in Indore this year,” Suri said.
Some youngsters who love to have a fun nightlife are more inclined towards midnight eateries like Sarafa, which will be missed. Known for flavorsome and delightful varieties of vegetarian street food, this buzzing street market is a heaven for foodies of all kinds. Sarafa Bazaar is a jewelry market, selling gold and silver ornaments and precious gems till about 8-ish. Post that, the market converts to a vibrant food market, where one can spot all types of savory vegetarian delicacies.
“Sarafa food and midnight drives in Indore are fun but that’s not how we will be starting this year,” a group of youngsters including Shubh Kadia, Tushar Khandelwal and Riya Gandhi said.
They added that music events are equally essential part of celebrations. “Going to pubs and discotheque is not a part of our usual life now since covid-19, but more so, we miss it on such special days,” Khandelwal said.
Last year food was served, no big bash
Last year, Indore collector had banned DJ parties or any special events on New Year’s Eve in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. Following which, hotel association had announced that they will not organize any event on New Year’s Eve.
All hotels and restaurants had served food till midnight as permitted under Shops & Establishments Act.
Alcohol NOT allowed 11:30 pm even before Covid-19
New Year revellers in Indore recall that the parties even before Covid-19 had some essential safety rules. Excise department has a usual 11.30 pm deadline for serving alcoholic drinks in restaurants, hotels, pubs, lounges and bars during the year-end.
Two teams comprising officials from food and drugs, civil supplies and excise departments inspect eateries serving alcohol on December 31 night every year.
The teams regularly conduct such inspections in all pubs and lounge across the city.
