Madhya Pradesh: Six poachers selling leopard skin and other components were arrested and presented in court on Saturday
In a joint action of forest dept and special task force, six poachers selling leopard skin and other components were arrested and presented in court on Saturday.
State Tiger Strike Force, Wildlife Crime Control Bureau and Special Task Force (Police) took an action against illegal transport and illegal trade of wild animals by hunting them on the basis of secret information received by Madhya Pradesh Wildlife Headquarters.
Taking joint action, the teams arrested some people around Bhainsola Chowpatty on Petlawad Rajod Marg. They were trying to sell the parts of the wild animals.
The action was taken on the basis of the concrete information of the informer. Under the arrests, the team took six accused into custody. Further, wild leopard skins were confiscated from them.
Forest crime case number 237/02 was registered under various sections of Wildlife Protection Act. The case mentions that the team seized one leopard skin, six nails, six mobile phones, one four wheeler vehicle (Tavera) and a two wheeler (HF Deluxe).
Advance investigation is going on in the said case. The arrested accused are from Alirajpur and Dhar.
Four accused were hailing from Alirajpur. Another two hailed from Dhar.
All the accused will be presented in Special Court Indore on Saturday, October 30, 2021. They will be taken on remand.
Among the arrested, two of them were found to be teachers by profession.
Do not fall into trap of superstitions
The State Tiger Strike Force again appealed to the general public to avoid spreading and getting into the trap of misconceptions and superstitions. These superstitions are on peak during festive seasons especially Diwali.
The force quoted the harm to wildlife in the state because of such superstitions. Society can control the spread of such ideas and hence, not fall into trap of buying parts of wild animals.
“Do not fall under the guise of the above criminal tendencies,” the appeal from Principal Chief Forest Conservator and Deputy Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) said. .
Where the hunting of rare and innocent wildlife is encouraged by the said act, on the other hand the person concerned may have to go to jail as a participant in legal proceedings.
“Crimes related to wildlife are non-bailable and there is a provision of rigorous punishment of up to 07 years,” the appeal warned the public.
