Two unclaimed children residing in the Government Child Protection Home located in the city cantonment have been adopted by an American family living in Chennai.

Now they will go to their new home soon. The adopted children were found three years ago. They are two brothers, who were found roaming around, unclaimed.

The younger one is 6 years old and the elder is 7 years old now. The family from Chennai had applied two years ago to adopt these children.

The family is currently living in Chennai. They are originally from the United States of America. They had completed all the paperwork for adopting the children.

According to the rules, if a child has to be adopted abroad, then NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) is mandatory. For this, the adopting family has to submit all the documents to the ministry.

After that the officials investigate the application, family and verify the information. If the investigation finds everything mentioned to be correct, only then NOC is issued.

The family had applied in the year 2020 for adopting the two brothers. However, due to corona virus pandemic, the matter was kept on hold.

Now September 6 has been fixed for the last hearing. It is expected that on this day children will be allowed to go abroad.

After this, passports will be applied and made for both the children.

Where were the brothers found?

Three years ago, the two brothers were found roaming alone at Dewas Naka. Child Line had given shelter. The team brought both of them to the Government Child Protection Home later.

Since then, the children were living in the orphanage. The children are promising and have set a good record. They are hard-working and as per orphanage in-charge, other children of the child protection home are taking lessons from them.

Not permitted to go abroad yet

Since the green signal has not yet been received from the court, therefore it is not allowed to go abroad. The adopted couple came to Indore and took both the children to Chennai by giving an affidavit at the Rajkiya Bal Sanrakshan Ashram. They cannot be taken to USA unless permitted by the court.

However, adopted parents can take the children with them to Chennai, India after getting NOC from Chennai Cara and filing an affidavit.

Adopting couple is US citizens

The adopting couple is citizens of the USA. The adopting grandfather is a resident of the USA. He is married a woman from Chennai.

Accordingly, the adopting father and mother, being the son and daughter-in-law of USA citizen have the citizenship of USA.
