Dazzling colourful looks to trend on social media in Indore this year, as fear of covid-19 hampers mass celebrations in India

Coronavirus has brought us down in many ways, especially the fun frolic festive season has a tint of fear and loneliness. To beat this blues amid limitations of playing with colours on Holi, a new fad evolving in Indore is creation of colourful looks.

While the fun of running and colouring friends and family members might still exist in smaller gatherings, the usual fun of roaming around the city and gathering with extended family members will be missed.

Hence, to reach out to their extended family members and friends, women have come up with an innovative solution of posting colourful pictures on social media and sending it to their loved ones. Though it is fun to play with colours of Holi, the pictures of us looking painted in pink, yellow and blue are generally not pretty.

Using the same colours, women are now ready to glam up and create their own colourful Holi look. They call it ‘Rainbow Holi’ as despite the natural occurrence, rainbow has perfect alignment of colours and shades.

Researchers from Harvard Medical School, US, and the University of Chieti, Italy, conducted a study on about 200 women and concluded that makeup can make you feel confident, smarter, happier

Confident colours

"I really love confident block colours on the eyes," said Seema Soni, a beauty expert. She added that great eye palettes and rather than blending colours, and bold colour on eye-lid with whack on a load of mascara brings in a modern look adored by younger women these days.

“Other than slashing on various colours and shades as per choice, getting the right eyeliner and shape is essential,” Soni said.

Flawless eyes

“For a flawless cat-eye flick, the secret is to get to know your eye shape,” said Akanksha Agrawal, make-up artist. She added for almond-shaped eyes, start with the flick that goes out diagonally towards the end of your eyebrow, as that helps you set out the shape of your wing (rather than starting from near your tear duct and drawing out).

Feel-good make up!

“I have learned to accept and love myself in this world filled with criticism. I love colours and intend to play with them using makeup this year.”

Vanshika Gangwani

College professor

“I love wearing lipstick. It adds colour to my face and my day. I become conscious of making faces or having a dull face if I have my lipstick on.”

Dr Shyamli Chowdhury

Lecturer

“I feel every woman battles to recognise herself, because we are often criticised for our looks. So, I am going to stash on my colourful make with bold eyeliner and enjoy Holi my way!”
