Indore: No New Year bash, but intimate dinners, house parties, picnics & family gatherings to say goodbye to 2020

The unusual year 2020 will bid goodbye to Indoreans in an unusual, but graceful way. The usual glittery walk into the New Year will be replaced by intimate dinners and cosy evenings this time.

The big New Year bash will be missed by hip partying youngsters, but they have other plans now. The bash of 2,000 over people will be slashed down into house party of 20.

Due to Corona, this time the administration has banned many events. For example, pubs, bars, restaurants can celebrate the New Year with 50% capacity.

At the same time, there will be no event in the garden or any open space. There will be no dance parties. No artists can be invited to organise events and gather crowds. Further, there will be no entry fee entry at any venue.

Only kitchens will be open at all places. No DJ, music, dance and other celebratory events will be allowed this year.

The Usual Scene

Usually, there were several big events in more than 150 hotels in Indore. Artists including bollywood stars were invited to celebrate the New Year with the Indoris.
All major events have been cancelled due to covid-19. The celebration will be held with just 50 per cent customers sitting and dinning at a distance.

If we talk about hotels in the city, there are more than one thousand small and big hotels.

Intimate Family Dinners

Sharing details about the possible way that hospitality industry plans to welcome guests and celebrate New Year, hotel association president Sumit Suri said, “The good news is that we are allowed to operate restaurants till 12 am, so we can wish our customers a ‘Happy New Year’.”

Earlier, administration was prescribing closure of all the restaurants by 10 pm even on New Year’s eve. “This year end will be different, but we will be able to say goodbye to it with our families and in intimate gatherings.”

Minimal or no decorations

One of the ways New Year party is different is defined by themes and decorations. However, this year, due to covid-19, hotels have decided to slash down decorations to bare minimum.

Hence, though there will be lights, it will be more or less the usual ambience of dining in a restaurant with your family and enjoying cool air.

Hotels to bear revenue loss of over 50%

New Year bash is a time when hotel industry booms and gathers huge revenues. With no bash, hotels will suffer revenue loss of over 50 percent.

However, since the decision regarding New Year’s eve were taken well in time, hotels did not invest in preparations. Hotel owners are satisfied with the decision and understand the need of enforcing the protocols for controlling coornavirus.

House parties & Picnics

This time to celebrate the New Year, Indori is shying away from going out to see Corona. So, a lot of people have organised house parties.

A large number of people are also planning to visit Patalpani, Choral Dam, Sitla Mata Water Fall, Janapav, Mandu, Maheshwar, Omkareshwar. Many people want to start their day with a darshan of God. Therefore, devotees will throng Khajrana Ganesh and Mahakal.
