In her third attempt, 15-year-old Khwaish Manwani made her mark and brought laurels to the city by earning third place in International Spell Bee contest. Attempting class X CBSE board examinations this did not stop her from going after her passion to excel at spellings.
Khwaish was felicitated with a trophy and certificate for earning her place in internationals and winning the nationals of the competition. “The challenging part was the differentiation in pronunciation as it was difficult to grasp the words,” she said.
Khwaish hopes to become a fashion designer like her aunt Kanchan Mankani. To prepare for the test, she had coached with mentor Deepa Dagaonkar.
Khwaish stays in Indore with her mother Laisha and her father Bharat Manwani is working as a manager in an electronic company in Africa.
