The seventh day of Chaitra Navratri worships the most
ferocious form of goddess Durga, i.e. Maa Kali or goddess Kaalaratri. She is
named Kaalratri as she can destroy time (kaal) and death (night often signifies
death).
Goddess Kali has the power of the darkest of nights. Beating
all the fears, she blesses her devotees with courage and protects them from
evil powers and spirits.
Goddess Kali is believed to be the power in Sahasrara Chakra
(Crown Chakra), thereby bestowing knowledge, power and wealth on her sincere
devotees.
Goddess Kali is known for perfection, as she helps her
devotees to attain perfection, happiness, and purity of heart. Jaggery or
sweets made with jaggery are offered to the Goddess to seek her blessings.
Goddess Kali is the most powerful form of Shakti. She has
three eyes which emanate rays like lightning.
