5 teenage girls still in hostel in Jhabua despite COVID-19


In order to ensure safety of students and avoid crowding people in a place, Education Department has been sending students home from hostels.
“As discussed with all DPCs, DEO/ADPCs of Indore division, only ADPC Jhabua reported 8 teenage girls staying in Girls Hostel of Model School Kalyanpura as their parents are out of station,” Manish Verma, Joint Director Education Department (Indore) said. He added that 3 out of these 8 were also picked up by their parents on Monday.
“Remaining all students of all RMSA/SSA/CWSN hostels have already left for their homes. In Girls Hostel Kalyanpura, hostel Warden is staying with the rest 5 girls to ensure their safety and sanitization of the hostel,” Verma said.
He explained these the students of High School were in hostel for their board examination and following the advisory, parents were asked to pick up students as soon as board examinations were postponed. “Parents of these teenage girls are stuck somewhere due to their jobs, so we are ensuring their safety until parents can come and pick them up,” Verma said.
While most schools have already ensured that children go back home for the holidays, some private hostels run for college students still have students. In order to ensure their safety, an advisory has also been issued to all the private hostels in the city to send students home.
