Cycling project from Indore to Amritsar raising issue of Child trafficking

Right Reverend Bishop Chacko from the Catholic Diocese of Indore flagged off 13-member national team on a cycling project from the Cathedral Church. The project aims to bring to light the evil of Child trafficking throughout the country.
The youngsters participating in the project will be covering 1420Km from Indore to Amritsar. The event has been organised by a Bangaore based foundation in collaboration with the Catholic Diocese of Indore and a sports foundation of Goa.
Chacko said, “We live in a society with a deteriorating value system. More young people are involved in crimes across the country, women are raped in numbers, a caste system that discriminates people even this 21st century, bribery, and the list goes on!” He added that this is an effort to divert youngsters to bring a positive change and change the trend.
During the flag off there were more than 400 people joined the event to support riders. Fr Biju Mathew, parish priest of the Cathedral Church said, “We believe that every young person has in him/her the ability to be a game changer for self and for the community at large, to leave a legacy of influence for positive lifestyle transformation.”
He added that this is an opportunity for young people to explore our diverse country, unlock their hidden potential, push their limits and see the country unravel riding on a bicycle.
Assistant parish priest Mahesh Sulya quoted how one can bring a change with determination and consistent efforts.
The whole event was coordinated under the leadership of Father Jobi Anand Director of Prerna Sadan pastoral centre and Father Sumit Tahir director of the diocesan youth commission of Indore.
Every year the organisers undertake an expedition to cycle across cities and states on a predetermined route to experience our community up close and personal since 2016.
Such minor projects have been organised before covering different routes in the country. The collaboration intends to plan the next ride in 2020 from India to Thailand.
The route this year in November 2019 starts from Indore to Ratlam, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, Jaipur, Delhi, Chandigarh and in Amritsar (Wagah Border). The riders are expected to reach Amritsar on Nov 23 as per schedule.
