Kodwani on dharna, demands planned development & environment concern

Despite written assurance by women and child development minister Imarti Devi, no meeting has been conducted till date and irked by thesame, social activist Kishore Kodwani has been sitting on dharna for two days now. The minister had given him a written assurance stating that the government would address his concerns regarding the overall environment and traffic in the city on Oct 14, when he ended his dharna. The minister had assured Kodwani that district in-charge minister Bala Bachchan will see his presentation regarding his suggestions onhow to improve traffic and save the environment. The state Congress secretary Rakesh Choukse had given a letter to Kodwani which mentioned about the time ofthe meeting with the minister.“I want to assure you that the government is concerned overthe issues and we have fixed a meeting with the in-charge minister. The government will implement all the suggestions which will result in people’swelfare,” the minister had said. Kodwani had sat on dharna from October 12 demanding thestate government and administration to take steps to save the city and environment.He alleged that district administration has been implementing plans without due diligence and citizens have been facing trouble due to its experiments.“We are losing greenery and watershed areas. The city is seeing unplanned development, which resulted in traffic jams and other issues.Immediate steps should be taken to save the city for future generation,” he said. Kodwani demanded that the administration should match the city's watershed map with maps available with it and with the central government.“Comparing the available records with the present conditions will clear the situation that Indore was once water-rich but now even the existing lakes are in danger,” he added.Suggesting a plan to control traffic, he said the administration should allow vehicles on road based on its size.“Small vehicles should be allowed on narrow roads while large vehicles like buses should ply on wide roads,” he said.

Before Pentecost, Christian community helps underprivileged families with ration

Prior to Pentecost, Christian community is following the lessons taught by Jesus Christ and helping those in need. In their drive to help underprivileged families, Christian volunteers forming a group are providing ration packets to them. Christian holiday of Pentecost, which is celebrated the 49th day (the seventh Sunday) after Easter Sunday, will be celebrated on May 31 this year. The holiday commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ. School Education Department issued an advisory to all the school heads and officers regarding precautions to be taken against the deadly novel coronavirus to prevent the spread of infection among school children.
