St Raphael’s students titled best team in The Crossfire Connoisseur at Laurels School

Debating on ‘For Sustainable and Faster Economic Growth, India needs innovative social approach’, students from St Raphael’s Higher Secondary School, Queens’ College, Shishukunj International School, Sri Sathya Sai Vidhya Vihar, The Emerald Heights International School, Delhi Public School, Choithram School, Manik Bagh and Laurels School International presented their innovative ideas on Saturday.
The students were participating in inter-school debate competition ‘The Crossfire Connoisseur’ held at Laurels on Saturday. Quoting the importance of novelty in approach, students quoted the current economic challenges faced by the country.
Presenting another side, some students argued that India has been working and growing on many grounds. The most challenging arguments were given by students from St Raphael’s, who were declared ‘The Best Team’.
Amatulla Abdabhaiwala from St Raphael’s was adjudged as ‘The Best Speaker’ and was awarded with a cash prize of 7500, a trophy and a certificate of merit.
The 1st runner-up was Nurvi Bhand from Delhi Public School who received a cash prize of 5000 and a certificate. The 2nd runner –up was Aashka Zaveri from The Emerald Heights International School who received a cash prize of 3000 and a certificate of merit.
The debate topic was proposed by the retired Indian Police Service Officer and current Lt Governor of Puduchery, Dr Kiran Bedi.
The jury members for this competition were retired Lt Col Dr Pramod Deogirkar, Dev Jagwani and Dr Geeta Choudhary.
The CMD Dr John M. Chacko, directors Jaya Chacko and Jennifer Chacko, host school principal, Dr Anshu Deshmukh and vice principal Thara Nair along with the judges awarded the winners. The Vote of thanks was proposed by the school captain Ishit Mishra.

Before Pentecost, Christian community helps underprivileged families with ration

Prior to Pentecost, Christian community is following the lessons taught by Jesus Christ and helping those in need. In their drive to help underprivileged families, Christian volunteers forming a group are providing ration packets to them. Christian holiday of Pentecost, which is celebrated the 49th day (the seventh Sunday) after Easter Sunday, will be celebrated on May 31 this year. The holiday commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ. Under the drive, ration packets are given to 200 to 250 people on a regular basis. “Christ was the ultimate social worker. What are the precautions for prevention of corona virus? Special instructions for School Students

School Education Department issued an advisory to all the school heads and officers regarding precautions to be taken against the deadly novel coronavirus to prevent the spread of infection among school children. The advisory was sent out at the direction of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India with a photocopy of the letter attached. The department in its advisory stated that the world is fighting against the rapid spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). In India, too, the number of cases identified has increased in the last few days. As the school going children are also susceptible to infection and this is a crucial time for children given the end of the academic year and examination, it calls for immediate measures minimizing the effects of the epidemic.
