Sub-inspectors training to be fit, the fun way

About 250 sub-inspectors on training at Rustom G Armed Force Police Training College learned the lesson of fun-fitness along with regular training session of officials. The three-day fitness training workshop concluded on Friday.
Looking at the range of unfit police officials that are targeted through social memes and other posts, police department has been working on various plans for fitness including development of gymnasiumfor officers. Since none of the plans have been very successful, the department came up with a plan to introduce fitness along with police training course.
A previous record of a camp held for cops was also cited during the training. The record showed diagnosis of cops between the age of 35 and 40 with either heart disease or blood pressure.
Training sub-inspectors learned fun forms of fitness including stretching and aerobics. Enthusiasts from aerobics club also joined the event to motivate sub--inspectors.
Representative of the group Mahesh Rasal addressed the officers citing importance of fitness activities.
Not just fitness, keeping the fun alive, cops was trained to do aerobics on hip Punjabi songs, Bollywood songs and best hits of Michael Jackson. Special forms of fitness like ‘Dandia’ aerobics and folk fitness were also taught during the workshop.

Talking about their experience and need for such fitness training, representing sub-inspectors of the camp shared their take with Free Press.
“I always wanted to become a police officer, but there is an image of cops with potbellies. I wanted to change that and have always been into fitness. Learning aerobics and other forms of fitness gave me a new perspective towards fitness.”

“Fitness is always seen as going to gym and building a muscular body, which is difficult for me. I prefer workouts, which are more fun. It was nice to have a fun session among training.”
