Social Media helped her find the truth about her husband's second marriage and claimed one-sided divorce

Recording statements in the court seeking justice, 31-year-old professional Veebha opened up about domestic violence, dowry and re-marrying of her husband without taking a divorce and returning her belongings.

The case came up into picture after five years of marriage, when Veebha floated social media posts about husband and her story. She penned down her story and misery of being married to an abusive husband in ‘Stand for truth’ blog that reached some of his current friends.
Further, when her husband’s social media friends demanded evidence and she shared her marriage certificate, a hidden secret of his second wife without getting a divorce came up.
She claimed to have married 35-year-old professional Prateek Gupta on april 21, 2014 in Saharangpur, UP in presence of guests and both their parents. She supplements it with marriage certificate and photos.
However, her father-in-law claims to have gotten a one-sided divorce in USA as she did not stay with him and left. Veebha admits to leaving Prateek after being physically abused and mentally harassed for 7 months during their stay together in Delaware, USA.
While she did not report domestic violence, her neighbours had once informed 911 emergency services after he trashed her in August 2014. After which cops had the house on red alert and had to intervene two more times to control the violence.
The story goes on as somehow, Veebha escaped the domestic violence with an excuse of taking up a job at a university. However, she did not take her jewellery along.
The jewellery worth Rs 11 lakh of gold was kept by Prateek and not returned, when she came back for her stuff in May 2015.

Returning to India to file a case to get her stuff especially gold back in November 2015, she claimed to have her case being manipulated by women police station. She added that the cops were bought her father-in-law and hence, misinterpreted her case adding that she demands Rs 1 crore.
Veebha recently discovered that advocate fighting for her was also bought by her in-laws. Firing the advocate, who had not helped her fight the case for five years, she directly filed an FIR on June 4 with the help of SSP (senior superintendent of police) Ruchi Vardhan Mishra and DSP (deputy superintendent of police) Pallavi Shukla.
