This is the story of how a lady started the chain of kindness by helping one child to attend school and increased it to many. The chain developed secretly from her savings would have ended with her passing away, but kindness expands and never ends.
On discovering her secret kindness route, not only did her family kept it going, they expanded it starting from helping 63 students in a year to 5,000 students amounting up to Rs 1 crore scholarship in financial year 2018-2019. Unravelling this family which is a perfect read for Monday motivation, we present to you Bam family. “It is life-changing when we start contributing to someone’s life without any selfish gains, which was a lesson and gift to us,” Akshay Bam, 41-year-old owner of educational institutes, said.
His mother (Nirmala Bam) passed away in 2015. “My mother was a religious lady, who passed away peacefully at the age of 63,” Bam said.
After Nirmala passed away, the entire house was trying to recover from the loss by engaging in different activities. “A couple of days later, some kids approached us with their parents, wondering where she was,” Bam said.
The children seemed distressed after hearing the news and parents wept too. “On enquiring, we found out that mom had been paying their school fees with her savings,” Bam said.
Throughout her life, Nirmala had been the source of hope for many children, who could not pay their fee. “It was the perfect way for us to give tribute to her initially, so we gave scholarship to 63 children, as she lived gloriously for 63 years,” Bam said.
As the family began giving scholarships, they found peace and contentment in their life. “My mother taught all of us a lesson for life and gave us the mantra to happiness,” Bam said.
As their institutes grew, the family increased the number of scholarships every year, depending on requests.
“India is a country rich with talent and a little support can transform someone’s life,” chairman of the institutes Kantilal Bam, father of Akshay, said. He shared experience of sponsoring a young boy, who had secured a job in USA, but did not have money to pay for flight fare.
