Arangetram of two young dancers of Indore has been organised on July 6 at Labh Mandapam from 6:30 pm onwards. Arangetram is the debut on-stage performance of a former student of Indian classical dance and music. This first performance follows years of training.
The two young dancers are Purva Pande and Ashika Jain.
“Arangetram is an important aspect of training in classical dance style of Bhratnatayam,” their guru Ashish Pillai said. He added that the event is an official debut of a student of Bhratnatayam with the permission and confidence of guru.
“As per the protocol, in a bharatnym arangetram, the dancers will present an array of performances known as ‘margam’,” Pillai said.
Margam means path to salvation and is featured by ‘nritta’(abstract dance movements), ‘nritya’ (Interpretive dance), ‘Natya’ (dramatic aspect of a stage performance), ‘abhinaya’ (facial expression) and ‘sangeet’ (music) aspect of Bharatnatyam.
In their arangetram they are going to perform Pushanjali, Jatiswaram, Varnam, Keertanam, Kautuvam, Ashtpadi and Thillana.
