Let your passion rule, success will follow

Born with a silver spoon or rugged one, everyone has the capability of achieving something great in their life if only, they follow their passion. Following her passion and working hard every day of her life, 25-year-old Palak Talreja is a woman of substance that inspires every individual to live their dream life.

Sharing her story, Palak said, “I did not study very much in my life, simply because books are not my best friend.” She comes from a humble family with unstable financial conditions.
“My father (Lalchand) is a property broker and somehow, our life was not smooth and I never saw the silver spoon in my childhood,” Palak said. As she somehow completed her schooling, she was ready to take over the hatchet to feed her family.
“I knew that I had to start working and earn something so that at least we can have some added income,” Palak said. Her parent did not pressure her to work, instead they wanted her to continue her education.
“I did not drop out, I enrolled into college for Bachelor of Business Administration while balancing it with my job,” Palak said. She worked in recruitment consultancy earning Rs 2,100 per month from the age of 17.
“Somehow, with concession and requests, I had paid my first year fee and cleared the examination,” Palak said. However, education had always been a disappointment and pain for her.
“I would always recall being unable to pay fee in school and then requesting for concessions in college just made education a pain more than a beneficial idea for me,” Palak said. Dropping out of college, she gave her full time to her job.
“After working for two years in recruitment, I worked in back office, where I did not enjoy the work much,” Palak said. Working there for a year till the pay helped her stand on her own feet, she switched over to a financial advisory.
“I did not study finance, but they hired me and I quickly grasped the principles of working in the industry,” Palak said. She learned about dealing and principles of dealing in share and commodity market for three years.
“Once, I had enough knowledge and experience, I wanted to do something for my own,” Palak said. Joining hands with a friend, she started her own financial advisory firm.

“We have worked hard in the last couple of years and today, we can earn about Rs 50k a month, which is a big achievement for me,” Palak said. She elaborated that her will to learn instead of just getting degrees helped her excel in a field that is often limited to professionals.
Talking about her achievements, Palak said, “I feel happy to have accomplished some goals in my life, like I bought my first car as I turned 20.” She explained that her two-wheeler was rusted and old, for which she had to smuggle petrol from her dad’s vehicle.
“I was not bad at studies, I scored 72 per cent in class 12, but I just knew that marks will not get me what I want,” Palak said. With her will to succeed, she has been able to uplift her family and hopes to uplift others like herself to train and join her as financial advisors.
