Indore’s engg trio takes first steps towards ‘Make in India’

Sometimes, we don't realise that we are capable of changing the country, with our simple efforts. It might not seem like much to us, but our little commitment can spur up a series of changes.

I met a trio of engineers, who had the same innate ability and idea to spur up transformation. Here is their story.

Three engineering students of Indore manufactured India’s first propeller led display, marking city’s maiden step towards ‘Make in India’ initiative. While many politicians and community leaders are talking about ‘Make in India’ initiative, the lacked actions can be seen spurring up among the youngsters. It is working for our benefit, as youngsters can define the future of our country.
The innovative head of ‘Propeller Led Display’ project, Raj Singh Sengar said, “During a discussion with some marketing friends, I came across propeller led display lights, which are imported from abroad.” Further, the discussion moved into why these lights are not manufactured in India. There was no reason except unwillingness of people to work on something new.
The same discussion was spurred up during college hangouts, where his friends Karan Singh Sengar and Neeti Chourey added valuable inputs for practical implementation of the idea. However, due to lack of inspiration, the idea remained an idea until a college competitor challenged the trio.
A bet was placed wagering the confidence and will of students. “You know how it is, when someone challenges saying that you can’t do, it becomes a question of honour and self-respect, and that become our inspiration,” Karan said.
Set afoot, the trio started researching about propeller led display. “It was a much tougher task than imagined, as there were no trained faculties to help us in the city,” Chourey said.
Through internet and self analysing of propeller led display functioning, the trio came up with their first research paper. “During our research, our college, Chameli Devi Group of Institutes professor, C A Patil announced Project Innovation Concept under the aegis of ICDCIT by KIIT university,” The competition was their opportunity to check whether their idea is applicable and research appropriate.
After getting a heads up on their research paper, their confidence shot up the roof and they started working full time on their project. “We got selected among top 12 from 200 submissions, it was a proof that our idea was worth developing,” Raj said.
Finally, in the coming period of time, their efforts paid off and they won the competition. The trio plans to take the idea forward and help manufacturing industries implement it so that making it in India is possible.

What is a Propeller Led Display?
Propeller Led Display is a display unit that works on the principle “Persistence of Vision”. It displays a set of characters and graphics using a column of LED embedded on a wing of the Propeller. The graphics are displayed on a circular plane. The unit plays a very vital role in a advertisement.

What’s the future scope of Propeller Led Display in India?
The project focuses on the improved display system used for advertisement purposes. This project can be embedded on the wheels of vehicles which will be then the display unit. Therefore any graphic can be displayed on tyre of vehicle. It can replace the hoardings used for advertisement in a great manner, apart from this it can also be installed in government sectors like railways where large display blocks are used for displaying information.
