Welcome to a journey through Karnataka, a state full of history, culture, nature, and flavor! Did you know Karnataka is India’s largest coffee producer, home to ancient empires, grand palaces, vibrant festivals, and incredible wildlife? Today, we will explore some of these wonders through activities that are fun, hands-on, and educational.
First, we’ll make Kosambari, a fresh and colorful salad. While preparing it, you’ll learn about Karnataka’s traditional cuisine and enjoy creating a healthy, tasty dish with your own hands.
Next, we’ll try Coffee Art, where simple instant coffee becomes your painting tool. You’ll create landscapes inspired by Karnataka’s famous coffee plantations, practicing creativity, focus, and fine motor skills.
Finally, our Adventure Story will take you through the state’s history, famous places, and festivals. By filling in the blanks and guessing key facts, you’ll explore Karnataka in an interactive way, discovering its culture, geography, and heritage.

Kosambari
Ingredients
• ¾ cup yellow moong dal (about 135 g), soaked 2 hours + 30 mins in hot water
• ½ cup chopped cucumber
• ½ cup grated carrot
• 1 green chili, chopped
• 1 raw mango, chopped
• ⅓ cup grated coconut
• Salt, pepper, black salt to taste
• Juice of 1 lime
• Pomegranate seeds and extra grated coconut for garnish
For tadka (tempering):
• 1 tsp oil
• 1 tsp urad dal
• ½ tsp mustard seeds
• Few curry leaves
Instructions
1. Prepare dal: Soak moong dal for 2 hours, drain, then soak in hot water for 30 mins to make it more digestible.
2. Mix vegetables: In a bowl, combine cucumber, carrot, raw mango, green chili, and grated coconut.
3. Add dal: Drain the dal and mix it with the vegetables.
4. Season: Add salt, pepper, black salt, and lime juice; mix gently.
5. Tadka: Heat oil, add urad dal, mustard seeds, and curry leaves; pour over the salad.
6. Garnish: Sprinkle pomegranate seeds and extra coconut. Serve fresh.
Coffee Art
Materials:
• Instant coffee powder
• 3–4 small bowls
• Paintbrushes (1 thick, 1 thin)
• White drawing paper or watercolor sheet
• Pencil
• Water
• Tissue paper
Instructions:
1. Mix three shades of coffee: light brown (1 tsp coffee + 4 tsp water), medium brown (1 tsp coffee + 2 tsp water), and dark brown (1 tsp coffee + 1 tsp water).
2. Lightly sketch hills, one or two trees, and a sun on the paper.
3. Paint the sky with the lightest shade, leaving the sun area white.
4. Paint background hills with medium brown and foreground ground with dark brown.
5. Paint tree trunks and branches with the darkest shade and leaves or bushes with medium brown.
6. Let the painting dry completely and add fine details with a thin brush or pen if desired.
