Wings of Peace: Folding Understanding Like a Butterfly
1. Start with a square sheet of paper and fold it in half, bringing the top edge to meet the bottom edge (with the white side facing inward). This will create a mountain fold.
2. Unfold the paper and fold it in half again, this time along the opposite direction, creating another mountain fold.
3. Open the paper once more and fold it along both diagonals to create two additional mountain folds.
4. Flip the paper over so the coloured side is facing down.
5. Bring the left and right sides inward so they meet at the centre of the paper.
6. Fold the centre edges inwards and collapse the paper to form a triangle shape. This is known as the waterbomb base.
7. Fold the left corner of the triangle upwards, aligning it with the centre crease.
8. Repeat this with the right corner, folding it upwards to meet the centre crease.
9. Flip the paper over and lift the bottom corner, folding it past the top edge so that the tip extends beyond the top.
10. Flatten the fold in the centre, but leave the edges uncreased.
11. Fold the top point of the triangle downwards and crease it. If the paper is thicker, you might need to use glue to secure the flap.
12. To complete the butterfly, fold the paper in half to give it shape.
