National Mathematics Day, celebrated on December 22, honours the genius of Srinivasa Ramanujan and his groundbreaking contributions to mathematics.
From crafting origami spinning stars to solving math adventure stories, there are plenty of fun ways to make math exciting. These activities not only improve problem-solving skills but also help you connect math with real-world applications. So, grab your materials and let’s dive into some fun-filled, math-based adventures that will inspire you to think, create, and learn!
Origami Spinning Star
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Paper
Use 9 square sheets of paper (6x6 inches or 15x15 cm for beginners).
Step 2: Fold the Modules
1. Fold each square diagonally in both directions, creasing at the center, then unfold.
2. Fold each corner to the center, forming a smaller square.
3. Turn the paper over and repeat the corner folds.
4. Repeat for all 9 squares, each with four pointed ends.
Step 3: Assemble the Modules
1. Place the first module flat.
2. Slot the corners of the next module into the flaps of the first, interlocking them.
3. Continue adding modules in a circular pattern until all 9 are joined, forming a 3D star.
Step 4: Adjust and Finish
Refine the folds for symmetry and a well-formed star.

Title: The Picnic Puzzle
_________ (1) wanted to have a picnic with their friend, _________ (2), at the park. They decided to meet at _________ (3) o’clock, but _________ (4) wasn’t sure what time to leave.
The park was _________ (5) miles away, and it would take them _________ (6) minutes to walk there. To arrive on time, _________ (7) subtracted _________ (8) minutes from _________ (9) o’clock and figured out they needed to leave at _________ (10) o’clock!
Next, _________ (11) needed to pack enough food. The recipe called for _________ (12) slices of bread per sandwich. If _________ (13) wanted to make _________ (14) sandwiches, _________ (15) multiplied _________ (16) by _________ (17) to find out they needed _________ (18) slices of bread.
Thanks to their math skills, _________ (19) arrived on time, and they had a fun picnic!
