Prayers offered in temples on Sheetala Saptami following Holi celebrations
Women and men gathered in goddess temples across the city and worshipped Sheetala Mata on Monday to wish for coolness in life, health and well-being of the family.
On the seven days of Holi, women worship Sheetala Mata on Sheetala Saptami festival which falls on the Saptami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month. There was a huge crowd of women in the Sheetal Mata Temple built at Shri Shree Vidyadham, MTH Compound, Sheetla Mata Bazaar, Marimata Square, Annapurna Mata Temple from midnight, which continued till sunrise. Besides, there were queues for worship in all the Shitala Mata temples of the city.
Offered food prepared the day before
After worshiping in Shitala Mata temple, food that was prepared a day before was offered to the mother and the devotees also consumed the same food.
Sheetala Ashtami festival is celebrated in some families. This festival will be celebrated on Tuesday. In those families, Shitala Mata will be worshipped on Ashtami Tithi.
Women not only worshiped Shitala Mata in the temples, they also performed Pathwari Puja at the place where Holika Dahan took place and also worshiped Holika.

Before Pentecost, Christian community helps underprivileged families with ration

Prior to Pentecost, Christian community is following the lessons taught by Jesus Christ and helping those in need. In their drive to help underprivileged families, Christian volunteers forming a group are providing ration packets to them. Christian holiday of Pentecost, which is celebrated the 49th day (the seventh Sunday) after Easter Sunday, will be celebrated on May 31 this year. School Education Department issued an advisory to all the school heads and officers regarding precautions to be taken against the deadly novel coronavirus to prevent the spread of infection among school children.
