Youth training program in Indore for employement in State Tourism

High school students in Indore can now apply for one and a half year diploma with assured jobs after starting with stipend of Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000. Under the Mukhyamantri Seekho-Kamao Yojana 2023, district education department launched the program in association with Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. One of the possible reasons for the launch of this program in Indore is the growing population of students as the city emerges as education hub of the state.
Furthermore, many students had grudges and were held back in the national scheme Seekho and Kamao due to limited seats. About 45,987 youth have been trained under the national scheme since its inception in 2014-15. This is 9 per cent of total 4,68,686 youth trained under the national scheme in the same time duration.
The highest proportion of beneficiaries in the national scheme was from Uttar Pradesh. There were 92,212 candidates from UP, who have been trained in the same time duration forming 19.67 per cent of total. It’s more than double of candidates from MP, who received training under the scheme.
Hence, looking at the potential, interest and young population in Indore, the course providing employment has been launched in Indore.
In a letter addressed to all school principals and cluster in-charges, district education officer (DEO) Manglesh Vyas said, “It has been informed by Indore that 3-year degree Hospitality and Hotel Administration and one and a half year diploma courses are conducted in Indore by State Institute of Hotel Management, Indore.” He added that the course has been recognized by State Tourism Board and National Board, Noida.
There are 15 free seats being allotted to students of class 12.
“State Tourism will bear the expenses of tuition, uniform, food etc. of the students for the said course from the revenue head and the students will be provided employment as per contract in the hotels of Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation,” Vyas said.
He added that this assistance would be provided to the students of 12 studying in the government schools.
