Union home minister Amit Shah’s divisional meeting with BJP leaders could not be as successful as planned, as it was the last day of nominations on Monday. However, he had a one-on-one meeting with former Cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Ranjana Baghel, who is contesting from Manawar seat in Dhar district.
Baghel had sought a ticket from BJP, but was not given.
A day after BJP announced its candidate from the Manawar assembly constituency, Baghel had expressed discontent following the party denying her ticket. She accused the party of injustice despite her giving 30 years of life and having made a big contribution to building the party in this region.
She accused party national general secretary and BJP candidate from Indore No 1 Kailash Vijayvargiya of opposing her and got her ticket cancelled. She accused Vijayvergiya, saying, “He is meeting Anand Rai and I am feeling very sad and now I will think about what to do now onwards. The party discarded me like a fly in milk.”
The former minister had previously said that perhaps injustice is being done to her because she is a tribal. “I do not hold any post in the party, the party workers will sit and think.”
Nevertheless, she had further nominated for the seat without a party. Shah urged Baghel to retrieve her nomination.
In the meeting with Shah, Baghel said, “I will not open my decision. I will only decide and disclose on Nov 9, after discussing with my people.”
“My supporters are with me and asking me to contest the elections, whether the party gives me the ticket or not, we will consider whether we will contest the elections,” Baghel said.
Baghel had also met Shivraj Singh Chouhan and general secretary in-charge of BJP, MP, BL Santhosh Shiv Prakash before in the same regards. All the contestants from Malwa and Nimar, which is more than 60 contenders, were called for the meeting. However, the meeting could not happen due to the last day of nomination.
Shah had an individual meeting with some other party representatives on the situation of the party in Indore district. Interestingly, Shah came last night and had a long discussion with Vijayvargiya.
