7 Mind-Set shifts in Society, regards Women Empowerment
From zero to 28.7 per cent in workforce, India is taking baby steps towards empowering women. However, this 28.7 per cent has brought shifts in mind-set and societal changes that are rather fascinating. Among employed women in various states, Madhya Pradesh stands at 37.2 per cent; Maharashtra is close at 37.7 per cent; Kerala, Haryana, Delhi, and Bihar is far behind at 27.1 per cent, 14.7 per cent, 14.5 per cent and 9.4 per cent respectively. Himachal Pradesh (63.1%), Sikkim (58.5%) and Dadar and Nagar Haveli (52.3%) have the highest women participation in the workforce.
Nevertheless, the mind-set shifts can be seen across the country in different proportions. Let’s celebrate Women’s Day 2023 with these beautiful shifts credited to working women in the country.
1. Family over Friends
While previous generations have always had men hangouts after work to relieve stress, the trend shifts as wife becomes the best friend. Most married men prefer going home and reliving stress in wife’s company over going out with male best friends.
2. Work culture
The idea of work culture has come about only because of women. Before women joining workforce, work was just an office with long faces and sullen eyes. Thanks to women, people expect work to have a culture and lifestyle. Work is a second home, where there are etiquettes, friendships, life and certain protocols of behaviour.
3. Dance & Party Duos
When it comes to drinking or partying, the idea of segregated parties is too old for the new gen. Kitty parties have become couple kitties and men’s drinking parties are now couple’s drinking parties. Most people prefer having their partner in dine and wine.
4. Business needs Women’s perspective
Women’s perspective is specially sought in most organisations in various growth and developments. Whether it is colour usage in marketing promotion or boosting a particular sales vertical, women in the organisation are consulted for their opinion. The reason is their better understanding and experience of customer’s mindset.
5. Breaking rule is no more Cool
The ones breaking rules were the cool guys in office and workplaces. However, with tough competition from sincere female employees, rule breakers are looked down upon even by their male counterparts.
6. Women’s opinion is more valued in financial decisions
While men thought that women don’t know about the world outside the house, now, they seek women’s opinion in spending money. Women have analysed, learned and observed perspectives of budgeting that most men couldn’t.
7. Paternity leaves and influential skills
With women’s maternity leaves, men also seek paternity leaves and attempt to be better fathers. Women’s multitasking abilities and skills are influencing men’s skill-set. Many men attempt to learn household tasks and others to become better partners, fathers, sons and play other roles.
