Promoting sports and motivating student to learn with practical assessments, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced special provisions for the students participating in national/ international sports events and international Olympiads.
Government of India attempts to promote sports among youth and with the instructions of the same, CBSE mainstreamed Health and Physical Education at the Secondary and Senior Secondary levels by introducing a mandatory period per day for sports, games, etc.

Students are to submit a request to their school for availing special opportunity in the Board' s Main Examinations.

These      activities must

be completed in such a manner that school recommendations

along with a certificate of participation are reaching the concerned Regional Office, CBSE latest by 31st December of the academic year.

 

Schools   are          to            request the     SAI/

BCCl/ HBCSE for issuing certificate of participation.

Schools   are          to            send their

recommendations along         with        the

"Certificate of Participation" of SAI/BCCl/HBCSE to the concerned Regional Office of the CBSE.

Regional Office to communicate the approval to the concerned schools

By  January 15 of the academic year.

Conduct of rescheduled examination

Preferably              within      15

days        from        the          last

examination in the date sheet of the main Board examinations of the concerned year.

For promoting sports and other educational competitions among youths, CBSE decided to provide special opportunity to the students by conducting special examination(s) at a later date(s) for the students who are participating in National/ International Sports Events. “The option is available for students whose CBSE Board's examinations clash with the dates of National/International Sports events including dates of the journey for the events recognized by Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI),” Jaydeb Kar, CBSE helpline counselor, said.
He added that CBSE also provides a special opportunity to the students by conducting special examination(s) at a later date(s) for the students who are participating in International Olympiads and whose CBSE Board's examinations clash with their dates of International Olympiad including dates of the journey for the Olympiad recognized by Appropriate Authority in India viz Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE).

Rules to avail of the opportunity will be as per the following details:
• Only for the sports recognized by the SAI/BCCI and Olympiads recognized by the HBCSE
• Only for the Board's main theory examinations falling during the dates of events of that particular Sport/ Olympiad in the participating event and the journey period for the event.
• Opportunity will not be available for compartment examinations.
• Opportunity will not be available for practical examinations/ projects/internal assessments.
• Exemptions in attendance beyond the rules of the Boards shall not be extended.
• Opportunity is not available for participation in training/ selection camps.
• No request beyond the schedule will be accepted for exemption.
• "Certificate of Participation" from the SAI/BCCl/ HBCSE would be required to be submitted in the prescribed format to be issued by the nodal officers of the concerned organization only.

In their drive to help underprivileged families, Christian volunteers forming a group are providing ration packets to them. School Education Department issued an advisory to all the school heads and officers regarding precautions to be taken against the deadly novel coronavirus to prevent the spread of infection among school children. The advisory was sent out at the direction of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India with a photocopy of the letter attached.
