School students take up charge of making Indore cleaner and greener by contributing to it with eco bricks.
With the theme of making a difference, students are collecting plastic waste and working on reduction of the same.
“Each one of us can make a difference. Together we can bring a change,” leading the drive Anil Rai, Savita Rai and Timsi Rai said.
Schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are supporting initiative of IMC (Indore Municipal Corporation) for Green Indore Mission and Swachhta Abhiyan. With the aim to make Indore plastic free, the activity is being organised in regular school days.
Students were asked to collect single use waste plastic bottle(s), fill the bottle(s) to full capacity with single use plastic waste like wrappers, milk pouch, oil pouch etc.
With patronage of our valued parents and participation of active students, we were able to collect.
Some schools are also encouraging students to plant saplings and promoted use of cloth bags instead of plastic bags.
Along with this, every school will appoint ENO (ENVIRONMENT NODAL OFFICER).
“As we go into the depth of visualizing the change in human perception, it’s very apparent that we have been exploiting the natural resources to a great extent since ages but the efforts made in the direction of its preservation have been very less,” Chairman of Indore Sahodaya complex of CBSE schools UK Jha said.
He added that Indian philosophy and Integral humanism have always portrayed us all to be the worshippers of nature but nowadays this culture is declining because we have denied the importance and care of nature from our life principles.
“Hence, we are starting work on our resolution for 2022,” Jha said.
