Prior to Karwa Chauth, beauty expert Seema Soni held a free workshop for women on ‘Self Make Up’ and skin care at a private café on Thursday. The workshop on self-makeup included a session on bursting myths. 

It was organised by Create Stories Social Welfare Society and headed by founder Deepak Sharma.

Beauty Educator Seema Soni said, “If some basic things especially preparation of skin is not taken care of while doing makeup, then makeup can spoil our good look.” She added that improper preparation also results in infection and allergic reactions to products.

In the interactive session, she answered the following questions asked by the participants.

Question – Are only expensive beauty products right?

Answer – It is not so. Get quality products. Before buying cosmetics, pay attention to the construction material rather than their price. Take the product according to your skin type. Be sure to check the expiry.

Question – Are the products same for all skin?

Answer – No, it is different according to all skin type, first of all identify your skin type whether it is oily, normal or dry.

Question – Should a primer be applied first and a primer will work for every skin type?

Answer- First of all do cleansing, moisturizing and toning then apply primer. For dry skin, apply a hydrating base primer, for oily skin, you can apply a full purifying or matte face primer, according to the skin, primers are available differently.

Question – If moisturizer is applied then apply primer or not?

Answer – This is wrong, primer does its job and moisturizer does its job, moisturizer gives nourishment to the skin and primer base to give flawless effect, blending the product easy and acting as a shield to the open pores.

Question – How to choose the right foundation?

Answer- Never try to choose the right foundation by applying it on the hands or neck, the right way is to choose the foundation by touching or applying on the face skin i.e. take skin tone to tone or one shade lighter foundation.

Question – If you are applying sunscreen then apply foundation or not?

Answer – Sunscreen is not needed in night time makeup. Sunscreen can be applied during day time but check it because nowadays foundation also has SPF of sunscreen. After cleansing, moisturizing, toning, apply primer, after that direct foundation, concealer can be used. If you want to do very light makeup, then you can do it by mixing foundation in SPF itself.

Question – Does skin infection or acne occur due to makeup?

Answer- Yes, it can happen if quality product or skin type product is not taken, or after applying access product, slept overnight or the product did not come out at all. This can lead to eye infection, acne, skin infection, so do cleansing, moisturizing and toning before makeup and after work without forgetting to remove makeup, you can also remove it with coconut or baby oil and moisturize and according to skin type. If you take the product from then the chances of infection are very less.

Question – Sweating is enough, should makeup be done?

Answer – Absolutely can, do cold compress on the skin at the time of skin preparation, definitely apply toner, primer aqua based and pore purifying matte based primer.

Question – Should I share makeup products?

Answer – The vanity of makeup products should be kept as personal as possible because everyone's skin is different and in today's time such a phase of infection is going on that everyone should use their personal.
