Indore: Parents write to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan demanding action against schools withholding results
An association of parent running campaign since coronavirus outbreak to control school fee especially during online classes Jagrit Palak Sangh wrote a letter to the Chief Minister, Principal Secretary Madhya Pradesh, Divisional Commissioner, Collector, Child Protection Commission and School Education Department launching a protest against mental harassment of children and parents for fees by private schools by withholding results.
The association of parents also demanded an action on such schools. The letter states that the manner in which banks have been barred from recovery, similarly, now schools should be banned so that parents can get relief.
“Arbitration of schools should be banned immediately. In violation of the order issued by the State Government, private schools are being harassed in a very inhuman manner for the collection of fees on parents and children and the results of children have been withhold if parents are unable to pay fee right now,” advocate Chanchal Gupta, president of the sangh, said.
Due to this growing corona infection and lockdown, the business and income of common people is zero and they are already suffering mentally.
Further, the letter cited that school education department notice issued by Madhya Pradesh government on March 1, 2021, ordered private schools to charge fees in 6 instalments between March 21 and August 21.
Further, Supreme Court recently passed in the school fees related case (Civil Appeal 1724/2021) and said educational institutions must reduce fees as their running costs have come down with various facilities provided on campus remaining closed.
“In para 4 of page no. 123 of the said order, the order has been passed not to withhold the examination results of the children for fees,” the letter said.
It added that school operators are not even accepting it. “The government should issue a clear order in this regard, asking private schools to immediately release the exam results of all children and not to put undue pressure on children and parents to collect fees during this lockdown period,” Gupta said.
