Martyrdom of Sister Rani Maria was commemorated with prayers and devotion by Christian community in Indore. The gathering was organised in Udaynagar area of Indore district.
“Rani Maria was an Indian Syro Malabar professed religious and a social worker in the Franciscan Clarist Congregation who worked among the poor within the Diocese of Indore,” said Bishop Chacko, Bishop of Indore Diocese.
He added that she dedicated herself to the catechetical formation and educational instruction during her time as religious.
“I remember her as a social worker and a person who brought strength and hope to people in villages. We consider her as a saintly person who despite opposition to her work, continued with great commitment and conviction,” Chacko said.
In the prayer gathering, devotees were welcomed by Palli Purohit Father Harman and Father Naveen Balraj.
Pujan Vidhi was led by Bishop Chacko and Jhabua Bishop Basil Bhuria. Father Jomon James and Father Thomas Mathieu and many priests were present on this occasion.
Sister Prince Rose concluded the ceremony.
